After the euphoria of last week, yesterday was a sickener. The strange thing is as Palace fans we aren't used to being a settled top flight side, and when we are on the cusp of becoming one it makes the prospect of dropping down a division feel almost cruel.

That said (and I know I am biased), I have always felt there is something a bit different, even maverick about supporting Palace. The way we bounce around, always seemingly fighting relegation or promotion means we rarely have a boring season. You literally never know what is going to happen, on the pitch or off it. We always seem to attract colourful chairman. We have blooded more than our fair share of top players. We have won numerous play off finals, we have a live mascot, we can generate an almost unique atmosphere in English football, even the clubs name isn't dull.

That is just some of the things I and I suspect the majority of us love about supporting Palace. Becoming an established premier league side, talk of turning the main stand corporate, attracting supporters that say (on here after yesterday's game) that at least they can be happy that Man City won and went top, just isn't Palace for me.

I am not saying I want us to go down or not become established in the top flight. It means that we can sign top players and see us up against the very best teams. But in some ways the current agony (although largely avoidable - as has been discussed at length) is almost re assuringly Palace like and it only serves to remind me that supporting us is almost unique and I'm not sure I ever want to lose that.

I think I'd prefer to not write off the first 3 games every season, especially in the case of the last 2 seasons when 2 of the 3 games were winnable, this season followed by very winnable for the opposition. And for us to be not so amateurishly prepared. Because I know where you're coming from I'm not holding out for any amazing runs so the what I think is going to happen will be easier to deal with.

The only thing I'm currently glad of is not living in Sussex. I feel for Palace fans who do, although I suppose you don't have to. If I was a replica shirt wearer I think they'd be staying in the cupboard.

Lived in Worthing for 6 years and worked in Brighton so did my tenure down there. Used to play in Brighton Sunday league, warmed up with my old Palace drill top. Usually guaranteed some hefty challenges come kick off :-). Likewise I'm glad I'm not down there at the moment.

Get your point but whatever is happening at the moment, it's still not a patch on the admins for me though.

Supporting palace is the best. I have to admit I was quite down after the terrible start to the season and missing out on Dyche (not sure if he was close to managing but definitely my preferred choice) but even before the Chelsea win I was back to loving the Palace - yeah it’s been s*** getting tonked but at the end of the day it’s only a f*ckin game! It’s a another record in the bag and it will be even sweeter if we manage to stay up! Before all this premier league sh1t I had some of the best Palace memories from our time in the Championship, if that’s where we end up who cares? Yeah the investors and people with a few quid involved in the club will be pist but really what should it mean to the supporters? If nothing it’s been a fun exciting/anxious/fun/crazy/stupid etc etc but life will go on and it will just continue all be it in another league. What ever happens this season has already set it self up to be very entertaining and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Come on you eagles!
