Spent a fortune on 3 left backs last January and they're both s**t. PVA and schlupp were both very poor today. When soare played in thd cup, expected him to ar least be on the bench by now...

Well Leicester were very happy with getting an incredible £14mill for Schlupp, one of their reserves, and Sunderland fans thought PVA was no great loss as he had obvious flaws. We don't really do our homework, do we? Could have got a lot better than the pair of them and for less than half the price if we had some decent scouts in place.

Schlupp was decent last week and not too bad today. Van Aanholt last week was the only player who didn't play well and today he was f***ing s***e. Drop. Edited by chateauferret (21 Oct 2017 5.46pm)

Agree about PVA. Thought he looked crap for Sunderland and he's done nothing to convince me that I was wrong since signing for us. I do like Schlupp but he's a little inconsistent, maybe due to not having run in the team in one particular position. Would be good to see Pape-Souare back in but let's be honest, he was far from perfect.

both were panic buys, club & players knew we were desperate and pull our pants down on wages & fees. still were stuck with them now so they will make decent subs when pape & bentekkers are back fit.

So Alladyce knows nothing about left backs, yeah. Bulls***! PvA played very well last week and today he did well, bar missing a glorious chance to score. So we'll say he's s*** becos he missed a great chance. No credit for busting his balls trying to get up to support the attack, no. Schlupp did his job again, working hard and trying to win it in the air as we had no one else. Edited by Dangermouse (21 Oct 2017 6.38pm)

Oops sorry. Just wondering who the third left back was that we bought in Jan.

When I questioned the signings of PVA and Schlupp on HOL I was pilloried. And we paid nearly £20 Mill for the pair excluding the add-ons.

If we hadn't bought them last season we'd have gone down. End of argument. We, of course, paid over the odds because it was the January window and clubs knew our situation. Van Aanholt keeps finding good positions. Hopefully he'll get his head in gear and it will start happening for him.
