That's the midfield after today,Sorry Punch and thank you for the last few years but I'm afraid you are a squad player at best now

What about RLC. He is up there with Zaha for me. I'd have him ahead of MacArthur I think. It's tough though.

Is dodgy ground on here putting cabs and mcarthur together in there but they delivered against CL quality. I say, we’ll in

Luka, RLC & Cabaye sounds like an excellent, balanced midfield to me

Fair comment on RLC just wanted to make the point that Puncheon is not first team anymore

We might not have any forwards right now but we have six great midfielders...

Zaha, RLC, Cabaye, Luka, Jimmy, Andros

Wealth of talent, they'll give anyone a game.

It will be this within 2 weeks. Maybe Roy will keep healthy competition for places by making cheek earn his place but he will be back in and probably for jimmy. I don't see anyone close to him as an attacking central midfielder. He gets into scoring positions (man c away), is strong, wins fouls (2nd half v Huddersfield), carries the ball well (every game), plays one-twos with the striker (Southampton), has a good engine and precision passing (to puncheon at anfield).

The other benefit in making him earn his place is someone else may get injured and we may need to shuffle around. That way Jimmy is still sharp. After all, we probably have 15 prem players so it's a delicate process rather than just simple swaps.

Playing against a back 4 is going to be more difficult though which is why I think we need more and someone capable of occupying 2 CBs. Can Jimmy? No. Can one of wilf or Townsend running from wide into the central position? That's 3 players you're running across. Cheek has that class we're going to need their very soon.

This. You cant really change the team for Newcastle but I think this will end up happening sooner rather than later. RLC by far best player this season pre Chelsea. Looking forward to see the all playing together!

Someone needs to be dropped when Big Ben is back too.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Well, well overdue. But Punch was never a central midfielder - play him on the the left where his one-footedness doesn't hold him back as much. Or if needed play him as a No. 10 - that worked for a while. But we have several players better in the centre of the park.

As for Benteke...Lets see how long our current set up works for before we write him off. He will have to be a lot hungrier to get back in the side if we can repeat Saturday's performance.
