I can’t recall a period in our history worse than this other than back to back relegations in the mid 70’s since the mid 60’s. The one thing though that has stood up to be counted are the fans, especially at away games. CPFC is in our DNA. I have not been this miserable about football since the dark days of the 70’s. Even 3 administrations were better than now. Our most overpaid squad in history are letting the fans down 100%. There are notable exceptions (Wilf, Punch and Jules). It’s time for siege mentality supporting. CPFC against the world. Chelsea at home is a nothing to lose game. So let’s be at it for 90 minutes whatever the score. This is the start! The team might be a laughing stock right now but we as fans are not. Old Trafford proved that! To hell with everyone else - WE ARE CPFC. South London and PROUD!

I can't remember the exact year but we were known as Crystal Palace nil and didn't score for 9 or so games. About the same as now. Armstrong was our star striker and scored maybe 9? goals in the season. Needless to say - we did go down. Was that the same year as that atrocious 'away' match to Wimbledon, that I sadly went to? Can't quite remember - something like 98. Could look it up but I'm sure plenty will remember - although forgetting would be nice.

Or how about top of old Div 1 in September 1979 with 30,000 average crowds to near bottom of Div 2 three years later crowds and plummeting to 5,000 ish?

I still had to look up the details though. It was 1994-5 and we went from November to January without scoring for 9 consecutive league games, as you say. However we did secure 4 draws and only let in 7 goals – 3 of those in the one game at Old Trafford that was the start of our drought. Also in the middle of that run we beat Villa 4-1 in the League Cup. We finished the season with 45 points from 42 games and only went down because four teams were relegated that season. We did lose the 'away' fixture to Wimbledon that season 2-0, but I think the game you are thinking of was must be the one in April 1993 when we were trounced by them 4-0 in the away game at Selhurst.
