Carlton Cole was a name linked with a free transfer, but he's not one that will be coming in. THIS IS WHAT ROY HODGSON HAD TO SAY AT HIS LAST PRESS CONFERENCE The 33-year-old is a free agent after a brief spell playing in Indonesia and has been linked with a return to English football, with Palace one of the clubs linked with the former England international this week, along with Bolton Wanderers and Hull City.
"Not to me, he hasn't been mentioned. Injury crisis as Roy Hodgson reveals Crystal Palace will be without FOUR key players for Manchester United trip "Now whether he has actually spoken or thought about Carlton Cole, I can't answer that. But I would doubt it, because I think he would have mentioned it to me!"

Anyone remember Malcolm Macdonald who was converted from full back to striker and scored a hatful of goals for Luton, Newcastle and England? Can't we perform the same trick with one of our numerous defenders?
