Think about it, has there ever been a better time to be a Palace fan? Supporting is about getting behind a team. None of us can kick straight, so let's not pretend we know better than Puncheon or Hodson how to play the channels. (Or whatever the technical term is) If you know more about making money and investing it in football clubs, why aren't you chairman? I can't think of a single valid criticism of Steve Parish - other than the fact that he's mad enough to sacrifice his precious time and fortune, just so fat blokes in the stands can tell him to "sort it aaaht!" The one thing fans can do is offer the support that players need in a time when confidence is low. This is our chance to perform. There has never been a better chance to show you care. (Think about it, you can be as passionate as you like if Palace were in the Championship. But the cameras won't be there and nobody will care. That's the way of the world) So, this is the time when support is demanded, and we get the chance to supply it. Are we fulfilling that order? Instead, what do we get? People moaning and undermining the morale of the players. They're humans for FFS! Their ability hinges on their belief in themselves. Players will ask themselves: Can I risk taking this man on, or will I get booed? If you want to crush that belief, then maybe you should ask yourself why you turn up to Selhurst Park every week. Why not go to Fairfield Halls and watch the wrestling? That way you'll know the result. Giant Haystacks loses and Big Daddy Wins. So go and become a Big Daddy fan. If you want to degrade yourself even more you could support Chelsea. (Note: Check if they still so wrestling at Fairfield Halls) This is a fantastic opportunity to invest love in a club which is at the bottom of the ladder, in a global market that's booming and bountiful. So stop being so miserable. If beer makes you sneer, you're not wanted here. If inebriation, leads to celebration, then please alight at Selhurst Station. Like it and agree. If you don't support them when they're struggling, you don't support them. Edited by Beastie (28 Sep 2017 7.44am)

(Or whatever the technical term is) The difference between Puncheon and us is that whilst we all know how to play the channels the forum members generally don't have the skill to actually do it. The other big difference is that the likes of Puncheon earn £1m plus per annum for their ability to play the channels whilst many of the great unwashed here are on minimum hourly rate or even unemployed and the purchase of any ticket let alone a season ticket is often the cause of financial hardship for us

I know what you mean. Fair point they are handsomely rewarded for that they do. But does booing Puncheon make him play better? I imagine it makes him more worried about performing. I'm guessing here, but I imagine footballers are pretty motivated about putting the effort in. That's what they do and it's what they are good it. But if they're terrified of making a mistake, I can see why they might want to go through the motions and not take any risks. I don't know, because I never played football in front of more than 10 people. Originally posted by Midlands Eagle

I've thought about it and could come up with considerably "better times" than yet another manager walking out, the new manager sacked after four games, a record setting goal and points drought, no senior striker, Zaha injured from the first match of the season and a fair chance of being goalless and pointless after eight games. Yup, I can definitely came up with dozens of better times than that. These willy-waving, 'better fan that you' threads are a total yawn-fest for practically everyone, except for the odd few who like to take the opportunity to wave their own willies.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

I don't know, because I never played football in front of more than 10 people. Then I'm more experienced than you as I once played in front of about 50 people as most of the cubs' parents turned up for matches

The key word is support. When a team is going through a tough patch, yes, it is the best time to offer support. That was my point. I don't think I said anything about I'm a better fan than anyone else. I'd never claim that! I watch most games through a haze. I'm sorry if that sounds like willy waving. Believe me, I wouldn't want to wave my willy as I'm too trollied most of the time and it's not an impressive sight. Originally posted by bexleydave

How many people are actively booing players ? Isn't most of the unrest at the moment due to the cock ups behind the scenes over the summer, leading us to be on our second manager and without a point/goal and no fit striker ? I'm sure that everybody will get behind the team like they do every single week. And then they'll go to the pubs and complain about it afterwards.
"Brighton are talking about how they're coming for us. And it's like, we've been waiting in the Premier League for you for ages." Wilfried Zaha, 2017. |
