It would be a real statement of intent if Roy's first job was to ditch Puncheon as captain and give the job to Sakho, Big Sam said he was a real leader in the changing room and on the pitch. Also would make it easier to drop Puncheon. If we revert to 4-2-3-1. Our team could be

WH
FM MS SD Schlupp
Milo Cabaye
Zaha LC AT
Benteke

That would be the best team we have fielded in the premier league with a top Captain/Defender. Bring on Southampton!

I'd play Tomkins for Dann if fit. Otherwise that looks spot on to me. Though I think I'd make Luka skipper.

Think Dann will the Sakho partner central defence, he is much more like his old self (SD).

He was captain of psg at quite a young age, he would be more than capable, a born leader of men.

Getting everyone on your side and buying into you would be a good start. You never know who you'll need. All our most successful managers didn't do anything too far from what they knew early on.

Pulis. Plenty had played under freedman.

Pardew to begin with. Added goals and boom.

Allardyce. Once discipline and professionalism was understood, off we go.

Nudge out the sh1t when the opportunity arises and eventually we'll have 17+ people who can make themselves available for the ball and use it rather than 11 if all fit.

It's not that far fetched. It just can't be done in a few months without the risk of relegation and our squad, money etc.

Roy will achieve survival. Beyond may we wait and see. Start researching other people now would be a good start. Anyone neighbours with silva or eat at his favourite restaurants?

I am quite sure Roy has a bit more experience than yourself, he will pick his team that is suited to his game plan.

First thing as a manager is dont piss off any players. Especially the leaders. Punch wont be dropped because that will rock the boat. Van Arnholt for Lee if available. Sakho for Tompkins if available. Zaha for Lee if available. Otherwise it will be the same squad and just getting confidence in scoring during training...

If I was him I would go 451 with Milo and punch as dm and Cabaye/RLC as an attacking one.

But Roy has been a manager longer than I have been alive and has managed in far worse situations than this so I trust him completely on this one...

Thats surely got to be Freedmans job now. He has to be the stability over x amount of years, set the tone of the way we play and research the staff to do it.

Southampton (and maybe Watford?) have this set up and are consistent, even when losing their managers. But if you look at a Burnley or a Bournemouth, thats a potential disaster should they lose their manager.

Freedman (hopefully) steadies the ship and allows us to keep the same mentality throughout the tenures of different managers. His appointment says to me that we are going to ditch the 'expansive' football project for the long term

He won't drop the skipper
And Punch will play better now in a role more suited to him
As will the other 10 players around him

Its crazy how so many of you thought that Im not loyal for wanting an idiot like FDB out of the club , a man who has done ZERO for us except for making us favorites for relegation , yet someone like Puncheon who until recently were all kissing his a** saying nonsense like " he's one of our own " blah blah blah ~ you want him out of the team !!! ~ laughable

I'd imagine his first task would to make sure there is a healthy supply of Sanatogen, zip up furry boots and a flat cap.
