There are reports this morning that Sammy Lee could leave the club and Hodgson brings in his own back room staff. I really think that this would be a bad move and the club need to pull out all the stops to keep Him.

That being said, he has worked with RH previously so who knows if they actually enjoy working together. RH is the manager and we will have to trust him to do what he thinks is best in terms of backroom staff.

We had all this with Keith Millen: "Palace through and through" "The players love him" etc. etc. Most of it's assumed. Sammy Lee was obviously a great fit with Big Sam but that doesn't make him a good fit for Roy necessarily. We always seem very quick to have a go at managers but Assistants always seem to get this saintly status. We also always want to keep old players on "they'll make a great coach" we say based on no knowledge of their coaching skills. I'd rather Roy picked who he thinks he can work with to implement his plans as successfully as possible than keep someone on who seems animated on the touchline.

Agreed, Lewington is a very good coach, hugely respected and Roy's first choice so if Lee fits in with that then fine, if not, I'm not going to grumble.

As long as they were both clear what they were doing, and it was not overlapping, great.

Managers choice, innit, end of the day he needs to have the team he can work best with. There was some logic with Keith Millen given he was a) our assistant manager and b) managed the club on several occasions and a team that's had 11 managers since 2010 might need a number 2 that can step in at a moments notice.

We all have a fondness for Sammy because of his enthusiasm on the bench with Sam when we were doing well last year . Sammy will always be welcome at Selhurst , his influence was very much needed at a time when the club were at rock bottom

Possibly FdB's influence though. Was he the same with BigSam around?
