This week's events have left me incredulous toward CPFC & its internal workings. Mr Cortese was interviewed earlier today & was not against a return to football. Based on what he built at Southampton & their continued development, I van't help thinking that maybe he'd be a good fit for us right now. It seems he was involved in setting up all of the fundamentals - academy, training facilities, scouting (players & staff) & constructing a sound business model for a football club. We could do worse than have a change around at the top IMHO.

And Southampton are one of the clubs that Steve Parish hoped to emulate. Looking at Cortese's credentials, he does seem to have the very background that we are so sadly short of.

Cortese was Chairman when they sacked Adkins and brought in the 'Unknown' Pochettino. Pardew worked under Cortese. Edited by Willo (12 Sep 2017 7.14pm)

Parish probably won't even give this a minute's thought. He should of course, phone the guy and take him very seriously.

Whilst Cortese's achievements are very impressive they were bankrolled by the Liebherr family whilst they were in the lower divisions. They also already had the modern stadium. We're in a slightly different situation having been promoted to the Premier league unexpectedly three years after nearly going to the wall.

To a degree, yes, but they were on their arses, bankrupt & League 1 at the time. We've got a lot in place but I just feel someone like him, with the backing of our U.S. investors could really move the club forward. He's very candid in the interview which made it more interesting. It would surely at least be worth a conversation.
