Surely the Board cannot be nieve enough to expect a complete change of style in 77 days they cannot be that stupid. So to get rid of FdB now suggests that there must have been lots of issues going on in the background between FdB and the players. I guess it will all start to filter out now in order to justify what on the face of it looks like a rash decision.

Apparently, although having retired for a decade, FDB was still a much better footballer than our players. They didn't like that much. Maybe that's why we named a squad of 24?

Before the 1st or 2nd half v Burnley I'm sure I saw Benteke looking angry yet determined at the same time. May be nothing in it but I wish I could lip read.

Wondering if he is a similar manager to Hoddle who used to show his players how to do things and then couldnt work out why they weren't as good as he was. Footballers dont like to be humiliated by their manager

What has come out today in the papers is what I had been told last night by someone who is almost always spot on. Not always, but usually.

He was a dead man walking before the season started almost. He had a 5 year plan to play 3-4-3 once he has settled in, not straight away.

We lost 3 games to the U23's with a full strength team playing 3-4-3. That to me, is the most shocking.

Parish knew he'd made a mistake after about 2 weeks. de Boer changed his mind on targets for transfers which is why we ended up missing out on a striker. He forgot! What is said about him telling Ward he was for sale the day before the season is true. He then put him into the starting eleven for our first game of the season at RWB and he got murdered.

The bloke has had a total nightmare from start to finish. He HAD to go. I am pleased Parish stepped up and acted quickly. He hired a man who talked the talk but almost certainly, could not walk the walk. Parish is not to blame. So many idiots kicking off about this, he could have gone quite some time ago.

The article posted in The Sun today is near on 100% the information I had last night. Give it a read if you haven't yet.

In fairness, we played well yesterday which is why I understand some fans disapproval of the timing. It felt like we were getting somewhere. The vibe is he wouldn't have kept his job if we had pulled off a result.

This just about sums it up. The issue of a number of unexpected changes after the appointment is illuminating.

There is much anti Parish sentiment today. Thanks for this thread as an antidote!
If true then Parish has acted quickly to avoid stringing out a Pardew like decline.
I'm not a Hodgson fan but hey ho, lets get behind the team once again

People who don't know all the facts are just looking at the fact that FDB was removed of his duties after 4 games.

I'm not going to get drawn into specifics but at the end of the day no manager gets shown the door after 4 games on results alone.

I hadn't bothered to watch de Boers past match interviews, but I did yesterday. He came across as having the personality of a dead fish, difficult to see how he could motivate and inspire the players. I don't doubt he knows his football, but it was difficult seeing him connecting with players.
Pretty sure it wasn't only the results that got him sacked. Pardew should be given credit for acting swiftly to remove him, maybe he learnt his lesson from keeping Pardew to long.
