So Palace chalked up a narrow loss vs. Burnley today but what a markedly improved performance from De Boer's team. What can the Manager do to prevent Cheung's individual catastrophic error that manifested itself away from any rulebook of preparation for today? Benteke didn't get enough support in terms of final third play and Dann could've got a hat trick on another day. Team is low in confidence at finishing e.g. Schlupp's seeming attempt to kick a conversion when so near to the goal. Board need to meet De Boer and analyse the game and support the Manager on the balance of this play. Players especially when working offensive positions must be the ones to ultimately hold up their hands.

We outplayed Burnley, mixed it up well and should have at least got a point. The big question is whether de Boer and the team respond positively to an improved performance or heads drop. If we can keep up the momentum, swap Zaha for Lee, RLC for Punch or McArthur, and bring Sakho in then I genuinely think we can give anyone a good game. Another positive was Schlupp who looked much better than PvA has been and for all his flaws I noticed Punch was dropping in to cover the fullbacks when they went forward, which seemed to work. Personally, I think if he could just get a goal his head would lift and he might stop playing in such a reserved fashion. I'm just not sure he ever will!

Much better than the last three games, he looks like he will stick with 4 at the back now which is a positive have to wait till all our players are back and match fit but just can't see him dropping puncheon.

I do not want frank sacked, but when you say that lees back pass has nothing to do with the manager, i agree the quality wasnt his fault, but he encourages the team to pass back, many times in the Burnley game there were dodgy back passes, there have been other games this year with dodgy passes across the danger area, to a goalkeeper known for his dodgy kicking, so in a way the manager is responsible, when i played, ok a long time ago, a ball across the danger area was only accepted if no other option is available,

Wanting to voice additional thought that it felt that this season for Palace started TODAY and that should be the message filtered back to players from both Board and Manager. Scrub out the first three games and focus/ build upon strengths from today. Levi Lumeka impressed me in terms of composure and effort. Riedewald looked nervy. Concerned though of racking up any further injuries that might leave team even more exposed. How soon are we from seeing the likes of Soare and Wickham back to playing? Zaha is apparently another few weeks away from full recovery.

Both away performances and with more composure in front of goal could of come away with points. However no excuses can be given for not getting a fit striker in the transfer window, ready for the beginning of the season. Now we are relying on a free agent 4 games in who no doubt will need a number of weeks to be up to speed.
