What, all of them? A better question is, when are we going to reject religious institutions? Currently, religious conflict is probably killing that may kids every day.

Hades didn't. Yeah he did. Just because he had an underworld named after him doesn't mean he was any different.

f***ing appalling. When are Catholics going to get their house in order? It is not only Catholics that need to do it but all religions have some pretty nasty skeletons in the cupboard. We hear about these things that happened to children and homeless kids all the times these days Nick and I should imagine we will hear many more before long. It seemed that it was a common thing to do in those days. Quite sad when you come to think of it. Religion can cause many heart aches and will continue to do so I am afraid.
Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

f***ing appalling. When are Catholics going to get their house in order? So what exactly is all your outrage about, Nick? 400 children (orphans or abandoned) are buried in a mass grave and records show that most of them died from natural causes/ killer diseases of the time. The nuns have acknowledged that this happened and maybe paper records were not kept as they should have been, but many of these nuns will have gone into convents/been placed there by families (especially back in the 1800's) and not necessarily been of a high level of education/intelligence. The article also states that they were not buried at the actual convent/home, but in a proper cemetery, so the authorities there should have been responsible for recording them too. I doubt that the nuns crept out between Compline and Matins to do the dirty deed after dark all on their own. Well, even today, it's accepted practice that those who cannot (or do not have family to) pay for their own funerals and graves are placed in unpurchased (formerly know as 'common') graves which are unmarked, and will contain the maximum numbers of bodies that it is legally permissible to put in them (and pre-war that could have been as high as 15 in one plot!). This is true of Local Authorities up and down the UK today. The fact that they have decided to tie the fact up with allegations of abuse - which do not appear to have been proved yet - is neither here nor there. Mass burial has always been the means of disposing of the corpses of the poor until cremation took over.
