I have to say I am sincerely hoping for a game tomorrow, i really hope we see a competitive Palace side out there and if FdB can get us playing football then all will be rosy actually because I think having him as a long term manager is an exciting prospect but that is of course dependant on more immediate results. However, am I the only one who feels like his press conferences are Pardewesque in the fact it's full of rhetoric - (we need confidence, goals, points, I am responsible for the team etc.) yet I never hear him say anything that leads me to believe he knows what he's talking about or has an actual plan for addressing our numerous problems? I suppose the proof is in the pudding and we'll see tomorrow, I also have faith he'll be sacked if the pathetic nonsense on the pitch continues, but I'm sticking with blind hope ATM because I have nothing of substance from the manager to go off! COYP!!
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

I disagree, he obviously believes in philosophy and is backing himself. The difference between him and Pardew is that this is his first taste of the Premier league so he has to adapt his philosophy to suit the league whilst also teaching a new team. Pardew knew the league and what to expect and had no idea of the style or formation he was trying to get across, he shot himself in the foot. I'm not sure FDB will work out with us, I would love to see him succeed but he also has had nowhere near enough time yet. The players also need to shoulder some of the blame as we have had our chances in every game and failed to take them and we all know that is the thing that counts most at the top level. I think we will see some changes to formation but I also believe that the manager should have a certain degree of stubbornness with their thinking in order to be in control.
"They got his own song 'He's just too good for you', it's quite unbelievable but when you see it and he's facing up someone - I actually feel sorry for them, 'Cos he actually is" - Ian Holloway |

And who does detail their tactical plans in press conferences? And why do you think it would be a good idea to telegraph to our opponents what we're planning to do?

Time is going to tell whether FDB can cut it with Palace in the Prem. For us fans to expect his methods to show instant improvements is naive, for his philosophy unfettered equally so. 3 games does not make a season. BFS took 6 games to get a win, give the guy until mid-october before jumping to conclusions, to throw it in now is completely ludicrous. All the noise about SP not taking to him and regretting appointing him is a distraction. I don't think all the players need to like a manager either. FBD obviously believes in his ideas and his processes so if that puts some people out then they need to put it to one side and get on board. No one member of staff is bigger than the club, we spent time making the decision to appoint FDB on the basis that he is a winner, we need winners at the club to go forward. Everyone needs to look at what they have put in since the start of the season, we were undercooked in pre-season and the result is 3 games 3 losses. I don't expect him to interview well I expect that he should be able to set a team up and improve the players. He's under pressure at the moment which I expect doesn't help. Bob Bradley was really good at interviews. The fans need to get behind the team and get a grip frankly and stop trying to make the new manager a scapegoat. COYP Edited by djcpfc (09 Sep 2017 3.14pm)

COYP!! I think this is a great summary of largely how i feel as well. I want and pray he succeeds but do feel like his press conferences sound very much like Pardew and that worries me. I hope he hasn't lost the dressing room and puts a team out capable of fighting for the shirt. If not i suspect he'll be gone and rightly so.

I really hope FDB gets a result tomorrow. If he reverts to 4-3-3 then we'll start to pick up results sooner or later.
