Just earnestly hoping that we pull something of a positive result out of Sunday's game vs. Burnley. Happy to eat humble pie in part by acknowledging that we are in transitional phase still attempting to play with greater flair and possession but that it doesn't occur overnight and that if Manager can be flexible with tactics to accommodate players' abilities and work constructively hand-in-hand with Board (and vice-versa) then so much the better. Media is right in reality to pick up the fact that Allardyce won something like 1 in first 5 games.

De Boer's future will be defined by how team earnestly respond to Sunday's game. Palace players should play as though their careers depend upon a win.

I do think that in all these discussions, the appearance (or otherwise) of lady luck cannot be dismissed.

Dann and Tomkins' injuries last season were very important, Remy hardly kicked a ball, Souare breaking his leg, McArthur being out. We didn't have it easy.

I do have issues with FDB -- although I think he can come good -- and i acknowledge (more than i used to) the errors Parish has made.

But when Leicester won the league they hardly picked up any injuries. If we had that luck, I'm convinced we could go a lot higher.

So far Wilf is out and Cabaye and Tomkins seem questionable for Burnley. It would be so wonderful to have them all back and fit. we'd be a much better proposition.

Luck matters too.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Do you really think the echo of the Pardew experience is not still with the majority of the players? That long experience and the new methods seem to combine a bit to undermine confidence, we got out of the mess but not by a lot and a whole year of not being able to win many games takes a bit to get over, lets hope the optimism of Mamadou the other new players and the improved fitness will help, I think it will be a rocky year and I hope I am wrong.

Yes this is key, if the players turn up and give there all then he most likely hasn't lost the dressing room and hopefully will be given time to turn it around.

If Palace are flat then the writings on the wall.

Allardyce didn't leave the team in great shape, they lost 4 of his last 5 games, but isn't lambasted like de Boer.
Anyone would struggle taking over the shambles Allardyce left.
Just in case you don't understand we have lost 7 of the last 8 games, 5 of which Allardyce was in charge, after being there 4 months.

This is a good point, those losses were against an out of form Stoke, a Burley team that hadn't won away a poor united team with nothing to play for, Everton that had nothing to play for....the wins that saved us were very fortunate Barr Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea would feel unlucky not to have won those games.
I really hope frank gets a fair crack at the whip and don't understand why people are so against change. To carry on as we were would eventually lead to certain relegation ala Sunderland.

Debate on here has become very polarised. Those that want an expansive style of play and dont see why it cannot work and those who see our history over the past 5 seasons and see we seemed to get better results playing low possession, counter attack football and believe that is all the players we have are good for.

If only FDB could be a bit more pragmatic and change the style of the team over time most of us would be ok with him.

Let's hope for an improvement against Burnley

COYP

Can we all just move on and find something new to debate?

Will Wickham ever be fit?
How do we replace Punch?
Whose will be best at left back when Soare is fit again? Can Soare, PVA & Schlupp play in the same team?
etc. (please)

We won six and drew one of our last thirteen games which included the top six and Leicester who were on a roll. Against Burnley at home we fielded Delaney and Kelly at CB and the last game was dead rubber away to United.

Some fantastic memories in there including one at home to Arsenal.

I think we can leave this to Sean Dyche, the Burnley manager, and his calm appraisal of our situation. He makes it quite clear Palace want to move away from the same seasonal struggle and need to change the fundememntals of the Palace style. This will take time but results now dictate more than planning. We should just accept Palace,in order to become one of the major clubs, need to change. Parrish sees this and is being revolutionary. This may mean a step back, but a team in a few seasons time of young Palace products, calmly taking points around the country as good prem sides do...that's what we should be aiming at.

Other than Liverpool and Hull, Allardyce's results without Sakho pretty much sucked - though his organization is better than de Boer's

Let's see if the new guy can work his magic twice. Without Zaha it will be a tall order
