Alright guys - going up Saturday morning for Burnley game and having a night out up there - anyone been drinking there before ?

All looks pretty grim and not much there ...and recommendations are welcome

I'd go into Manchester if I were you.

Never been to Burnley and no idea what the social scene is like over there.
James Anderson would know !

Hopefully for our supporters intent on staying there it is not such a rough place that even the SAS have to deliver the milk.

You need to be careful - four thousand holes and all that.

If you're going up there for a night out the one thing you don't want to do is confuse them with Blackburn!

Blimey a night out in Burnley??... Problem you have is it's a grim town surrounded by other grim towns...Nearest proper night out is probably Blackpool or Wigan... Both are a good hour away though.

I'm sure they have there pubs and clubs but just have your wits about you... It's the type of place where I don't think they're to fond of foreign (London) accents.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Similar scenario here except that I'm stopping in Preston, anyone know what that is like? A mate of mine is staying in Burnley so we were tempted to meet halfway in Blackburn if anyone knows what that's like?

"It's ok postman , he'll lick you to death" "That isn't really that comforting , I still end up dead !!"

Stayed over after the match last season and to be honest it was a bit grim. A few Wetherspoon pubs, they were pedestrianising the high street and we visited most of the pubs and ended up at the Talbot, a bit of a rockers pub.
People were friendly and nearly everyone in the town wore a home football shirt.
If I went again I'd try Inn on the Wharf, didn't manage to get there.
We stayed in the Travelodge, a little walk into town and downhill, passed the old mill, won't forget the walk uphill back in a while.

Dulwich - Crystal Palace - Upper Tulse Hill - Streatham - Norbury - Castlewellan = Always Palace
