Did Mangala refuse to join Palace?

Did Mandala's refuser to join Palace prompt Parish to put his hand further into his pocket for Sakho or is this just a bit of paper talk?

On transfer day it seemed as if we had bids in for both. It seemed as if both had been accepted. My assumption at the time is that Mandala was used as our back up and to flush Liverpool out to accept the offer. Pretty sure Sky was reporting a 18m bid from us accepted. Imagine City had known we were interested for days hence the late interest in Evans. Guess our poly was to make Liverpool think we were serious about signing someone else and also have a deal half way done should they have been stubborn. It seemed as if the deal only broke down sometime after Sakhos medical had started. I.e. We most likely tried to string it along until we knew he'd pass it. Obviously this is all suspicion on my part but seemed to be how it played out. As for the paper talk I'd assume that's an agent at work trying to get the players credibility back. I'm all most certain it was plastered all over sky news that the bid had been accepted. Imagine this little smoke and mirrors game saved the club millions but by all accounts no one cares about that.

I agree with your recollection, though I think it was all part of some messy chain.

We had one keeper in mandala who did not like playing for us. We have another in speroni who loves our club. I know who I wanted to stay.
