Today I keep reading that Steve Parish is going to sit down with Frank and have a serious talk about our rigid playing style in the next few days. I cant see how Steve can't see how that he should shoulder most of blame for the playing style we have adopted, He appointed Frank unless he is total fantasy land i am sure this was done with the knowledge of his philosophy of football & playing styles. I think he needs to take a long look at some of his decisions over the past few years and be honest with himself, Always someone to blame or an excuse, It might work in the Business world of computing etc. But not in Football, I have the utmost respect for what he has achieved, But at least admit that he has fcuked p big time over the past few seasons and learn by his mistakes.

There were promises of:

'gradual changes'
'Evolution not revolution'
'Results over style'

Frank said we suited 3-4-3 when we clearly don't. He fielded 3 new players with some irresponsible team decisions and was still short of 3 players for 3-4-3 or 3-5-2. He probably decided on 3 at the back before even joining.

They both share responsibility. Frank more IMO.

They both have a lot at stake so it could still work out. The striker f*** up doesn't help one iota.

To be honest, and I've said this a couple of times, the more time goes on the more I'd suspect hiring him was due to his attitude towards transfers.

Can bet your bottom dollar Pellegrino/Dyche or whoever else Parish interviewed would've taken one look at this squad and made it abundantly clear that the chequebook will need to come out if we are to compete this season. I suspect Frank is a character who believes in his ability to coach players to be better on the ball etc. and we already know he spoke about integrating the academy. I personally think this was the most attractive part to Parish about the appointment and if that's the case I'd be very disappointed as it doesn't take a genius to work out how thin we were and still are.

Franks looked surprisingly laid back in interviews about the lack of recruitment.

And yet when he was appointed de Boer said that Palace were a club that "spends a lot of money".

He can only have gotten that impression from the chairman himself, unless he took one look at the January outlay and thought that was the rule rather than the exception.

If he plays this he can play good football with some solidity and add and rotate when needed.

Mensah. Dann/Tomkins. Sakho. PVA/Schlupp

-----------------Luka----------

Townsend. Cheek. Cabaye. Zaha

-----------------Benteke---------

That lot can play football. So coach the squad, once all those are in, get some consistency and stop moving people around, although recently it's been injury caused.

If you're that good a manager you should be able to adapt your tactics and footballing philosophy, comming in, looking at what you've got to work with and playing to the players and squads strength.

It's the equivalent of a boxing trainer having a long rangey southpaw with a good jab and a poor chin and telling him to go out and box on the inside.

It's plainly obvious we don't have the players to play possession based football in a 343 formation and if he can't adapt and persists to playing his way then the sooner he goes the better. He's paid enough and has been in the game long enough, it can't be that hard for him to set us up to play to our strengths.

Evolution not reveloution, come in, work with what you've got and gradually build something that fits with his ideas if not then go now and let someone come in who can.

What I don't understand is how we were so open about the formation we were now going to adopt! Huddersfield are doing well as a team and I believe a lot of that will be because teams don't know what to exoect! With Palace we gave the game away to all the teams in England! We will play 3-4-3 we are set up to fail at this rate! We can't possibly e so rigid that we cannot adapt mid game it's a failing in management to be so blatant with your plans before the game! Why are we not setting up for the game in front of us not blindly hoping that 3-4-3 might work this week!

Well that's the million dollar question isn't it and realistically there can only be one of two answers; arrogance or stupidity. On balance I'd favour the former.

Yeah I did think that too. It's a weird one, but perhaps he meant more in general. The only thing clear to me is that he hasn't been backed and Parish held back all investment for the sake of Sakho - whether that's because he's getting too involved or because Frank already has one foot out the door is anyone's guess.

I think we were 9th highest Prem spenders last year. The exact figure is quoted on a few threads. So he's right to think that

Not sure anyone will care, but it's worth pointing out that Stoke didn't get a result until November last season and lost 4-1 at Selhurst to us and ended up finishing 9th, which is excellent. Proof if you ever needed it that sometimes it's worth backing the manager - I honestly don't think he's nearly as stupid as some make him out to be.
