Southgate reckons Joe Hart it England's best goalkeeper and will start tonight's game.

Is it just me or is Joe Hart not even top 3 and therefore shouldn't be in the squad? He's continually proven to be error prone in big games and his distribution isn't brilliant.

Pickford
Heaton
Butland

These guys are all better IMO. Forster possibly also a better option.

What is it with England managers and picking the same old players irrespective of form or evidence?

we used to have decent goalkeepers but most seem to be a bit suspect these days. Certainly not as reliable as the likes of Shilton, Seaman. I know they each had their own moment getting lobbed, but they saved many more attempts that most keepers wouldn't have got near and in crucial games

In the game against Scotland Hart was f***ing s***e and chucked away two points with a couple of Leigh Griffiths free kicks that made Hennessey look like Peter Schmeichel. Was very nearly three points.

A common thread through the whole team tbh.

Whoever is in goal against Malta should be a moot point - I dare say you could play with 11 outfield players and no keeper, and you'd still expect to win.

Not saying you're wrong, but until Pickford, Heaton and Butland receive the same level of scrutiny as Joe Hart gets it's difficult to compare. They've simply not competed at a level where the stakes are as high as a regular England international, Premier League title challenger or Champions League keeper. They're all one mistake away from being the next Scott Carson. Fraser Forster is also way off form.

All we need now is for it to start raining and for someone to toss Southgate a brolly

He destroyed himself trying to prove he could pay football at Euro 2016, not to mention his idiocy in the tunnel against Iceland.

I know he's a goalkeeper but as a footballer he is absolutely useless.

Any followers of the Scottish game know how Wes Foderingham has been playing?
