Have to say, amid and despite all the chaos at the club I was sincerely hoping we might actually sign somebody and maybe gather some positive momentum headed to Burnley. One more day to go in the transfer window as it doesn't look like we'll get anything tonight, news gone quiet on Mamadou, not even a whisper of a GK and Diafara Sakho bid absolutely smacks of desperation! Well prepared to get the 'window ain't shut yet dickhead' comments which would be very just but my nerves are in pieces! Does Parish do this just for s***s and gigs or are we seriously looking at having no back up strikers, defenders or horrendously no GK until January and oh yes.... FdB still in charge, aaaarrgh!
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

It's exactly like this every year.

It does strike me that an awful lot of the deals especially in the Premier League get done on the last day - slightly surprised that things like Oxtail Chamberpot to the bin dippers has gone through already, actually. I suspect that a lot of the agreements are made in principle eariler but clubs haggle over the details until the moment comes when they can haggle no more. Sakho to Palace looks like that. Tekers last summer similar. (Of course the two deals also have in common that they involve the bin dippers). Then there are the frees to snap up, there seem to be more of those around nowadays. But it made me think, how many of these much vaunted acquisitions turn out to be a waste of time? Bumfluff, Mandanda, Flamini, Adebayor, Mutch, Remy, all either sat in the sick room or were s***e. In the Spring we got four players in all of whom have turned out to be at least useful, and this time we got two loanees who both look decent and probably Sakho back, at least. That leaves two or three holes to plug tomorrow or from frees (plus close the Sakho transfer). Lots of transfer activity is fine as long as you don't mind duds or have £1bn in the bank. Riedewald has yet to prove himself but subject to that it looks like the last real dud was Mandanda, who was in any case free. This Turkish striker looks very much as though he might be somewhat oversold. Quality over quantity.

with all the different players being linked now, and apparently a bid for wet spams sakho, im wondering if we'll see the shotgun approach parish did with holloway.

No we have plenty of irons in the fire and we will conduct our transfers in private until we lose out on all of them and say the parent club asked for to much money and we dont have a budget at all, until jan when we panick buy.

We're so saturated with media coverage these days that people can't seem to understand that business is being done without the papers reporting it every step of the way. Deals will be finalised tomorrow and we'll only get firm rumours when they're imminent.

Seems to me that more and more business is being done on the last day. It's like buying a house in a chain - you have to wait until all the deals are in place then it all happens at once. I'm pretty sure we'll get at leas 2 deals over the line tomorrow, but with all the crazy speculation who knows what we'll end up with. Its also interesting that there's not much speculation about outgoings....
