I'll miss him setting all the big international tournaments alight.

I've often wondered why international footballers and cricketers announce their retirement from the international team long after it's obvious that the manager has effectively already retired them

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |

Players have to notify their national association in writing if they wish to not be considered for international selection, whether permanently or for a period of matches. Otherwise the player and club can be sanctioned if they get called up and they refuse to go/the club refuses to release them. That's what happened to Joel Matip last season for Liverpool.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |

But when it's a Nasri situation I agree. You didn't retire, you were dropped.

Burst onto the international scene with real intent, and seemed to go downhill slowly ever since. Euro - 2004 - at his absolute best (until injury) If you compared that to Gary Lineker's international tournaments there is no comparison.
