Shocking
We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell] |

They should have to pay back their wages for the entire time they were being criminals instead of police. And seeing as crimes against the police seem to carry a premium at sentencing, so should crimes committed by them.

West Midlands Police Corruption, a very Republican President, Fascists and Socialist protesters fighting in the streets - next thing the miners will be on strike and the police will be burning out caravans of hippies

When I was growing up getting into the Police use to be something a working class kid who had some brains and had done ok at school could do. Now you hear about diversity targets and wonder is it easier and you see female officers in possible physical situations. When sh1t goes down and gets physical not many of them are much use. I don't really believe that the modern Police force is as good as the ones of the past.....feelings and values over reason. Just my opinion. Edited by Stirlingsays (23 Aug 2017 1.46pm)

I am guessing this happens every now and then. I have worked with two forces and have much admiration for the senior leadership but I was convinced there were quite a few bad apples in the rank and file. The Police Federation is so strong they seem to get away with it more than in other organisations I can't help feeling that the reason this has hit our screens is the ethnic makeup of the perpetrators.

Forces in England and Wales recorded a total of 34,247 complaint cases in 2015/16 Wow The IPCC doesn't comment on how many resulted in prosecutions against officers.

There is very valid reasons to raise the issue that a gang of one ethic minority make up from within the Police force has been caught doing this.....it is pretty disturbing....if not surprising.

What a spectacularly daft thing to say. So if they'd been non-Asian (or do they specifically have to be white?) it wouldn't have been reported?

Yes, better to cover it up and ignore it like all those rapists.

Cabals within Police forces shouldn't exist, racial or otherwise. You would hope that the type of people who are allowed to join the Police were instinctively anti corruption. Bad apples should be rare and temporary.

I was bang on for it until I met my fellow candidates. Now that's TVP - but they were a bunch of f**king idiots, most of whom were attracted to the idea of getting into a ruck, rather than concepts as diverse as law enforcement and protecting the community etc. I realised I wasn't going to fit in and left. The benefits were pretty good, even as probabtionary copper the wages weren't bad, free accommodation was a available, lots of training, good career prospects into different and diverse fields and a reasonable salary with lots of overtime. Plus a good pension at a decent retirement age. These days you have to be a PCO (unpaid) for two years and pay for your own training - to qualify as a PCO - unsurprisingly this hasn't been a great benefit to recruitment - Pension doesn't look great, retirement age is high, and a lot of people are going into the police to then move into private security work. I don't think the police provide accommodation anymore either. There never has been less reasons to join the police than ever before.

Kind of makes sense to me, its like organised crime, people tend to stick within ethnic or family groups due to 'trust issues' with outsiders. Gangs are also very similar in that trust is more important than diversity.
