I was going to put this in Transfer Talk, but as we have two loans from PL clubs already it seemed redundant. But nevertheless an interesting viewpoint :- I heard the press conference with Conte today laughing on whether he had heard from Diego Costa. and it posed an interesting scenario. It is well know that that Conte doesn't have Costa in his plans and Costa wants to move back to A.Madrid. However Madrid are banned from signing anyone until January. This is a massive opportunity missed by everyone concerned. 1. Costa could have gone on loan to a PL side until January - though not a top 6 side as Chelsea would not want him playing for a competitor. 2. Costa could have kept up his fitness so come January, he would have been match fit and ready to go for Madrid - should he get the move. 3. Had Palace been cute enough, they could have persuaded him to come to Selhurst, given RLC was already here. 4. Palace could have paid his wages for what 4 months or so (not alot in this age), Chelsea would have had his wages off the books and a player not wanted out of the club. 5. Imagine a 4-4-2 with Costa and Benteke up front with Zaha/Townsend on the wings !!! An opportunity missed by everyone concerned.

It's really not that far fetched. The reason he didn't report for pre season is because he did not want to go back to Chelsea. I am surprised that a team outside of the top 6 didn't approach his agent, proposing a half season loan to maintain his fitness.

I didn't know that. I suppose there must be reason to that rule, perhaps to stop a feeding club scenario. Still, didn't stop Southampton and Liverpool.

Everton need a striker and could cover his wages for a year. He's still one of the best strikers in world football so I'm surprised there isn't more demand for him on loan, other than the fact he is obviously a total bellend.

He'd spend his whole time hiding at the back of the changing room in case Delaney was about.

Chelsea would rather let him rot for 5 months then try and recoup a few months wages, it's chicken feed to them
