Rather than setting up FA Panels to rule on diving, when will something be done to protect the more gifted players. I have just read that Wilf will be out for four weeks and I am not surprised considering the kicking that he got against Huddersfield. Referee Moss did very little to offer Wilf protection and if he had booked a Huddersfield player early on for fouling Wilf, things may have been different. It was clear that Huddersfield had seen Wilf as their main danger and went after him from the early stages. Wilf is often accused of diving and may be open to greater scrutiny from referees but it is often down to the fact that his speed and ball skills are too much for opponents who do foul him. It should not be right that a gifted player's skills work against him and it is about time that referees did more to protect them.

Only protection he gets is from that c0ck sock thing that he endorsed a few years back.

The tackle that injured him appeared to be when the defender came across from the other side of the pitch, as Zaha was going towards the goal. It was a hard tackle but fair as he got the ball first, it wasn't a foul.
I know he gets rough treatment, but you cannot take tackling out of the game.

He has, largely unfairly, been labelled as a diver and a moaner and it's worked (as it did with Johnson before him). If you can successfully get the world and its dog to believe that the opposition's star player is a cheat, then you can nullify his effectiveness.

The continual drip drip of poison, that started with the playoff semi at Brighton, by managers, pundits, commentators, reporters, bloggers, supporters of other teams, etc., eventually seeps into the consciousness of those that matter, the referees, and then that player will be given little or nothing in the way of protection, free kicks or penalties.

I don't know what the answer is as the damage has been done. What we certainly should have done on Saturday was adopt the 'team-fouling' system on Mounie and see how the opposition like it when one of their key players is targeted. I don't like that sort of play, but you have to fight fire with fire sometimes.

People know who Mounie is now - it will happen.

I don't think he's been unfairly labeled as a moaner. He is a moaner. Every time he gets clattered, he spends the next few minutes moaning rather than getting on with the game. Rightly or wrongly, this doesn't help his cause.

The tackle that injured him was hard but fair IMO. Trouble was Wilf was clearly held back on the halfway line and should have gone down and got the guy red carded. He didn't and because of the foul it allowed the defender time to get across and tackle him causing the injury.

Every time he's clattered. So he has every God damn right to moan. Absolute tosh, sorry.

Totally agree. I've said it for ages, you keep feeding people the dive bulls***s and eventually it becomes fact in many people's eyes. Subconsciously it affects people like refs.
As for the rotational fouling it's been going on for 2 seasons now. By the time the ref books someone they've had about 5 free kicks at Wilf and that doesn't include the ones that aren't given.

The ref was playing advantage, as he was clear on goal.

The fact is, if he played for a "big club" we would not be having this discussion as he would get the protection and opposing players would be carded.
I agree the media has played it's part especially that t*** Durham on Talksport, shame SP hasn't taken him to task over it. I know people are going to say "he has the right to his opinion" but to openly call someone a cheat (and even saying the club teaches it's academy players to cheat)on national radio is unacceptable.
