I appreciate that sone people have started threads about visits to NYC before but me and Mrs KBLF have just booked a 4 night break over thanksgiving weekend, which includes Black Friday and Time Square Xmas lights etc.

Ok the most important thing is we play West Brom Away on the Saturday (02/12) and are there any bars etc that will show this game? (We are staying at the Jolly Maddison Towers overlooking Time Square)

Secondly, The NBA fixtures have just come out. The New York Knicks are at home on the Sunday to Orlando Magic. Do any of our American members know if it's possible to purchase tickets for this??... Or is it Americans only, season ticket holders type thing??

Thanks in advance.

Perhaps you should ask if anyone knows a good divorce lawyer as well! If you get away with this you should bottle the secret and sell it!!

Legends is the place to watch the boys.

As for the NBA, tickets will be available from a scalper at a premium. You'll just have to look around the web for a deal that fits your budget. NBA tickets are really, really expensive though, and in NYC I'm sure even more so. The exchange rate won't help either, unfortunately.

As for Black Friday...good effing luck! You couldn't pay me to go anywhere near a store that day. Expect all the department stores on 5th Avenue to be a giant, seething mass of angry humanity. I'm going to be in Los Cabos.

Jolly Madison on 38th St, I've just walked past it this afternoon although I thinks its called Madison Towers now,
You have Mulligans Pub two blocks up the street & you can walk to the Football Factory from your hotel in about 5/7 minutes. NBA tix? might pay you to get friendly with a barman in a pub they sometimes get freebies from the liquor companies. I get tickets all the time Red Bulls, NYCFC, NY Rangers, Mets, Yankees etc but seldom go. In fact I gave my landlord tix for tonight's subway series at Yankee Stadium between the Yankees & Mets. The nearest bars to MSG is where you may score a ticket with the Blarney Stone being your best bet. Alternatively you could always go to the Barclays Center to watch either the Brooklyn Nets (NBA) or NY Islanders (NHL)
Its only 4/5 stops on the 4 or 5 train & I'd say tickets would be easier to score.

NY Knicks look as though they are on the road over Thanksgiving holidays although it looks like The Nets are at home to Portland on Saturday...

This is the confusing thing. On the official Knicks website it lists the home games but shows the opposing team first then the Knicks..... On the away games it shows the Knicks first then the opposing team.... I'm confused!!

Thanks for all the advice anyway people. Will come in handy.

Yep. American sports show the home team second. So the Knicks are at Orlando, not the Knicks being at home to Orlando.

Except for soccer, where they show the home team first.

Maybe our US friends could help us but i don't think Saturday (02/12) is the Thanksgiving weekend. It is earlier in November.

Home team second is the sports equivalent of driving on the right.
