I can't watch another ten or so games with this system trying to be implemented. This is what I can see is going to happen. We do not have the players to do it, and even one of the new players looked one of the worst on the pitch yesterday. If we persist with it I can see that we will yet again be looking for another manager to save us. When will we learn that we cannot afford to trial things in the Premier League. Do what works. We are Palace, not Ajax or Barcelona.

Frank De Boar is a good manager with a proven record albeit in the different league. But we need to give him time to mold our players to his system not the other way round. He is the manager and it's the manager who is the boss not the players. If you are employed by a company you have to do what your boss says, the same applies in football!
Yesterday was a shock for all of us fans but I do believe in FDB, so am willing to give him time to mold the team to his system.

Natural reaction, when worried retract to type for safety...not very progressive or forward thinking though is it (?)

It seems to be the very same people screaming for better players and for the club to go higher that in fact have the mindset holding us back (ironic to say the least).

I think we all agree that the squad still needs some players who are more comfortable with the system; but if we crack it it will lead us to being a better team and push the club higher.

It's also fair to say that FdB is at least giving players a chance to show they can adapt, that way when they're replaced people will have fewer complaints.

When he came in FdB said he'd do just that (give players a chance) as well as that it'd be Xmas before things are likely to settle down...even when Fat Sam came in he said it'd go down to the wire (4 months from when he said it)...so chillax and wise up everyone

No matter what age a player is the learning process is the same. I ran teams up to u16's and always told the young kids that once they knew the position and their positional sense became automatic their football would improve, simply because they no longer had to think about where they were supposed to be.
Pros will adjust quicker, but right now they are so concerned with where they should be on the pitch at any given time that they can't focus on their technique when passing etc. Even the simplest pass requires you to concentrate on foot shape, angle, power etc. Lose this focus and even short passes go astray and you give it away in bad areas and then whatever system you play if you're out of position you are in trouble. Second goal summed that up, lose it on halfway pushing forward and everyone is caught out of position. Add to that the new system and everyone just got drawn to the ball and lost their bearings. Should have been a foul on RLC but Moss totally dicked us there.
Can't understand why FdB felt four games was enough to bed the system in?

I readily admit that I went into the season with a degree of trepidation based on fact and also on instinct.I never expressed such views on HOL as it would only attract cries of "Negativity" etc etc and the debate would have evolved around me with brickbats hurled to the extent that yet another WILLO thread would have emerged.I went as far as to say that a Huddersfield win would not surprise me but generally I kept my counsel.

Alas my fears were realised yesterday. Embarrassing defeat but let's not overeact and call it a 'Crisis' after a single game.In a conversation last night with someone we talked of "Growing pains" as we evolve from one style to another but we cannot allow the 'Transition' to cost us too many points as we will soon be in deep trouble and Steve Parish will be forced to act.

I heard at the ground views expressed that if we had Dyche, Pulis or Allardyce as manager we would have looked far more organised and would not have suffered such an abject defeat.

Worrying, concerning etc but no crisis as yet.It could however develop into one sooner rather than later.

Time to get back to basics.
Forget the aspirations to play like Cruyff's Ajax.
Our new system made relegation favourites Huddersfield look like Real Madrid.
