Well that's a disastrous start to the season, but - dare I say it - one of the best debut performances I can remember by Loftus-Cheek. Powerful, direct, decisive, composed. I think he shows how limited Puncheon is, and will make an excellent partner for Luka.

(Thought we ought to have one positive thread this evening. I'm off for a very inebriated walk)

AGREE! Puncheon was awful and mustn't play again, Loftis-Cheek was mustard today.

Agree with every word. RLC was first class when moved into the deeper role and asked to surge forward.

Big shout out to Fosu Mensah aswell, covered very well for Dann who looked very, very out of place in my eyes when being asked to play from the back. Ward and Puncheon shocking.

Zaha needs to stop bitching and Benteke needs to put himself about a hell of a lot more than he did today.

I'm hoping it's first day nerves but a lot of improvements needed.

Agreed. Well done RLC, just about the only silver lining.

Yes he was one of the few, perhaps only, bright spots of the afternoon - strong, skillful and with an eye for going forward rather than constantly passing sideways or backwards.

Absolutely outstanding in a team that had absolutely no idea I am afraid.

FDB has well and truly underestimated the Premier League I am afraid.

punch has been a great player for us but long overdue that he becomes a squad player, nowhere near good enough for a starting 11 spot and hasn't been for awhile but good enough for the bench. cheeky boy looked great him and Cabaye could form a special partnership.

Drew in so many fouls. Big tough lad.

Puncheon should be back up. Cheek and Cabaye I'd like to see. Or where else Cheek can make an impact. Strong ball carrier through midfield.

Yup for me Ruben LC and Timothy FM,were the two outstanding performances on our part, and just goes to show that the youngsters are good enough and should be the first 2 names on the teamsheet, just a shame we have to go to the top six to find the quality we sooooo need.

Anyways new season onwards n upwards is the only positive.....

A glimmer of light in an otherwise dark day. That and Lewis Dunk scoring an own goal on his Premier League debut.
