Selhurst park is our home and I hope always will be. But it desperately needs updating. The old and Arthur Waite standsneed to be demolished and rebuilt. Sainsbury's won't let go of the Whitehorse unless offered a heap of money. Palace could easily fill a 35,000 stadium.

There are plans to rebuild the Main Stand, but it appears that we can't agree a price with Sainsbury's for a strip of car park (that we sold to them) required to extend the depth of the stand. No plans have been submitted to Croydon Council as yet. As far as I'm aware, there is nothing formal in relation to the Whitehorse Lane stand and Sainsbury's and nothing whatsoever on any front with respect to the Arthur Waite. Parish has ruled out absolutely any attempt to move to CPP during his tenure for reasons that are well known. Overall, our accounts show that we are spending most of our income just to stay in the PL and doing anything much to the ground will be a challenge. There is most likely only going to be any real chance of major rebuilding if the current owners sell to a person or group who wants to put a massive injection of cash into the infrastructure.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

Selhurst is a ramshackle hot-potch but as soon as we stop spending money on the team we will be relegated. The choice is a nice ground in the Champ or EFL1 or carry on in a dump in the Prem...

I wouldn't want to move our ground, especially if it means we end up having a s***, soulless bowl for a stadium a la West Ham (I know, slightly different), Southampton, Stoke, Swansea etc. I'd rather they'd knock the stands down, one by one and rebuilt them with better facilities. A place that would be easier to get to would be great for eveybody To be fair, Selhurst Park is very accessible by train. Less than half hour from Clapham Junction, Victoria and London Bridge. Five minutes away from East Croydon and Norwood Junction. The only pain is accessibility via car (and when the trains are cacked out), which isn't a problem at all if you play it right. Driving back after the game we saw the flood lights from the national sports center in the distance. Personally I'd be over the moon if we moved their. The buzz in Crystal Palace triangle before and after matches and the walk through the park to the stadium, think it'd be a great vibe. Can't see it happening and Parish has said it's not on the cards. IF they couldn't do it without making it in to a toilet bowl. I'd love it, plus the park would get x amount to help maintain the park. Should be a win win situation as the current stadium is virtually unused. But yes by all accounts it'd never get past the nimbys..

I quite like that away fans and teams are subjected to a bit of squalor now and again.

Correct, where are the people complaining about it being hard to get to travelling from? it's probably a bit of a ball ache from the Orkney Islands or Narnia but other than that it seems reasonably easy to me. Granted, I am reasonably young and able bodied so I can walk to Selhurst from a choice of several train stations, but I don't see how we are particularly hard to get to.

Edited by Dan1994 (07 Aug 2017 11.28am) Its easier to get to than Reading's ground which is only serviced by buses. There aren't too many grounds that are so well serviced by public transport than Selhurst (three stations, four if you don't mind walking from Crystal Palace). Although its a nightmare if you're in a wheelchair or driving - but then I like to have a few beers, and am reasonably able bodied (and provision for the disabled exists).
