theory... Do you believe in it or not?

Man is the most insane species. He worships an invisible God and destroys a visible Nature. Unaware that this Nature he’s destroying is this God he’s worshipping.

It's the least worst theory we have, so gets my vote.

We have pretty strong evidence for a universe that was once a lot smaller.

Though what we know now is unlikely to be the complete answer.

I have incredulity problems with inflation. Then again, physics is full of evidence for things that are incredulous.

I believe it's one of the worst tv shows out there and anyone that thinks other wise is an idiot.

Do you even understand it?

What difference does it really make to us anyway?

Scientists like to understand stuff and it often becomes useful, but knowing the origin of the Universe is nothing more than knowledge for the sake of it. I doubt that any human is anywhere near understanding the true nature of the Universe anyway and we very possibly will never know.

It's an interesting point....the whole, 'what's the point of knowledge for the sake of it'.

The research around races and IQs for example, I've heard criticisms of that due to it having more negative consequences than good.

The study of the atom ultimately ended up giving us the nuclear bomb.
Still, in many instances this attitude could have still kept us in caves. Also, relevance for many areas of study can come at later points...We just don't know how things develop....race and IQ for example could help us later on when we have far more advanced gene therapy.

It's interesting but on the whole I go with 'knowledge for knowledge's sake' as still being a very important principle.

Knowledge is knowledge.
It may well not always appear to help (you) in this day and age but as history shows, it will always be of use for future generations.

I like knowledge for knowledge sake but some knowledge will have little or no effect on our condition.
Any science that could prove to be advantageous is worth pursuing and it is in the nature of humans to be inquisitive.
Big bang theory however, is not going help me beyond adding to the fabric of my existensial ponderings.
