This is what is simmering beneath the facade: NICE

At a recent Performance and Finance Scrutiny meeting, Cllr Amadi referred to FGM (Female Genital Mutilation) as a cultural practice, suggesting that it is therefore sometimes acceptable. Many in the room were shocked at her explicit support for such violent practices for which there should be no exceptions.
Perhaps Matthew you can tell us of other pro fgm councillors. Is fgm a cultural practice? Edited by nickgusset (01 Aug 2017 11.24pm)

Support for non medically required circumcision is wrong in my view. The fact that male non-medical circumcision is not illegal in the UK is a disgrace.....Female circumcision rightly is illegal and is even worse in my view but regardless both should be illegal. It's yet another example of how males are treated compared to females.....apparently on girls it's called 'child abuse' but on boys...blah blah blah usual BS. Personally I regard chopping off people's body bits to suit some religious or cultural practice as obscene and unacceptable. Cultural relativism is a disease of the left and appeasement right and I've always regarded it as dangerous nonsense in many forms. I am not against this view being aired however and an argument made. She has a right to say it and it for it to be debated. In a democracy the voice of the majority decides.

It's a fair point mate but FGM is far, far worse. I bet most gentiles wish they had been circumcised, makes the old fella look very smart indeed. FGM is barbaric. It is multi-culturalism at its best. Ripping off young girls clitoris.' We should have a day for it.

We have now reached the depths where we have to debate whether the mutilation of female genitals is 'acceptable' merely because it is the practice of racial and religious minorities.
We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell] |
