Look - I know it's very early days and we can't draw too many conclusions yet, but I do have a few concerns:

Recent palace history shows we fare much better keeping it tight and attacking on the break and horrendously badly when we try and open up and outplay better teams:
Holloway (too open) replaced by Pulis (did well).
Pardew (too open) replaced by Allardyce (did well).

We don't have the players to pass out from defence through central midfield, so we will need wholesale player changes to make that happen.

From the friendly today, we took far too many liberties in deep areas with high risk and little potential reward. In this way I was reminded of Holloway.

The other thing I don't like is how gleeful Parish was with getting FdB in. I wonder whether he has fully engaged his rational mind on this one.

So, I'm not making any concrete conclusions just yet, very early days as we all know. But I feel Frank has to get on with defensive / keeper recruitment pronto.

1) Shut up.
2) Season hasnt even started yet, he's not even been in charge a month. As BS proved, managers need time.
3) Go support Manchester City.

Overreaction alert. 2 months without football and you basically sacked him. He's bought in 1 player.

Dann and Tomkins are both good passers of the ball, marry that with a new signing and defence and we should be alright. What I am more worried about is the options we have after the back 3/5 release it. We need someone to come and collect the ball and distribute it further up the pitch, I'd hope that when Cabaye is back in the team (not sure why he wasnt today) then thats what will happen.

We've got the makings of it working, I think anyway.

How gleeful parish was and if he's engaged his rational mind?

One friendly and the anti parish threads start.

Oh my...

It may well be possible for us to play the way Frank wants us to, but we'd need to do it gradually with the right recruitment, some U23s (provided they're given time) and a whole load of training of the current squad. We're not going to do that by the Huddersfield game or, most likely, before January, by which time I fear for the trouble we may be in.

He has said he cannot change things overnight. So he has tried what he may want to achieve in one game. Are you saying that despite what he has said, he is going to persist regardless?

FFS....... You're basically acting like it's the end of the world because of one sodding friendly.

Agree...

I think starting Puncheon as captain may have been a bit early as I think he will struggle this season and today looks like nothing has changed from last season. I hope I'm wrong but Cabaye is a far better player in this position in all aspects of the game.

As for this thread...what a pile of sh!te. The season has yet to start and already unhappy. What is wrong with you!!!!

Well, I hope not, but he's so confident that I think he just might. He's sold himself to Parish as being able to bring about what is a volte-face from the way we've played with a modest degree of success and he may feel obligated to plough on regardless. Let's see what happens against WBA on Saturday.
