Ward for Kelly, Dann for Delaney, Cabaye for Loftus Cheek and Townsend for Sako. Despite our decent record against Liverpool, this is potentially the most difficult of the ties and I'd expect FdB to put out his potentially strongest side. The bench may have some surprises though.

Although that would be a lot stronger side, it about players get minutes and we don't want to field a complete team of youngsters on the Saturday.

I think that the players will be champing at the bit to show the manager what they are capable of and most would rather play in all of the games than rest.

If the intention is to try and win the competition then how will the youngsters get a game?

FdB said he sets out to win every game, in the preview programme, and every player knows what their job is, in contrast to Klopp who was getting his excuses in early complaining about the lack of training time in HK, due to the rain. I like Frank's 'man-of-few-words' style; he's certainly inscrutable

FDB wants to win against our opponents in the EPL season. He'll be priotising the chance to watch all his players in this tournament and to get as ready for Hud asap.
