Considering how much they cost to run how come so many of the beggars hover over us weekend nights? Anyone know what's up this time?

I always know when I have gone home as the sound of the helicopter circling overhead is part and parcel of nightimes there especially at weekends. I spoke to my mum on Friday and she said there had been several shootings and stabbings in the past couple of weeks one across the road to her and one in the next street.
When I was a young girl my Mother said to me.. You listen here kid you're CPFC |

Not just Croydon. Even here in the fens (not the end of the world but we do have the same postcode) we get loads of police choppers. Mainly looking for Illegal Coursing and Drug Factories, using thermal imaging. They caught a couple of nere-do-wells at the end of my road a few weeks ago using a chopper.

There was a lovely bi-plane flying around Croydon on Saturday morning. However, I do concur with the OP that it does appear extravagant to fly a helicopter over Purley Way every time some ASBO-riddled Chav decides to partake in a so-called 'joyride', whilst ripped to the tits on 'Buckie' and 'wobbly eggs'. I personally would use IED's, thrown under the vehicles being joyridden, thus providing an effective deterrent to any other scroats considering doing similar.

I live in Burgess Hill where it's so sterile it made the papers when a lady said "bum" on a bus. We seem to have the helicopter going over almost every day since they got it. It's like a toy. I swear they just generate fake escaped convict alerts just so they can whiz about in the police chopper. All at the tax payer's expense.

fear not the helicopters will be replaced by drones soon - much quieter and smaller so you'll hardly know they are there

Should I be concerned that I'm now seeing Apache overflights rather than the usual Police spotter choppers in Billericay? Not just there - I nearly soiled myself when one of them hopped up over one of the few hills between Duxford and Royston when I was driving back towards the M11 having dropped the kids off a few weeks ago, and proceeded to drone across my car on the A505 at crop-dusting height.
