I am struggling to understand why we are not going out, even if we have to off load some players why we have not gone out and signed this guy.

Outside the top7 - please name one side that paid 30m for a centre back. As much as a leader and a great player. A club our size can't warrant paying 30m for a centre back.

Agreed, we needed to grow a pair on this one and realize this particular signing is worth more than 3 signings of 10m defenders. The confidence he brings to the others is tangible. Its worth more than 30m to bring that into the defense at the start of a new era. Not much more, but its worth more than 30m. He was an absolute talisman, he had more impact on the club in a short time than any player I can ever remember.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |

Right put it this way. We spend all the budget on Sakho and the first game against Huddersfield. We lose him to a long term injury. Benteke a slightly different case as a striker, we always hold their value by putting the ball in the net. With an undeveloped ground, I can see why we haven't stumped up the 30m fee.

SP would love to sign this guy, he knows what we can afford and cannot so my trust is in him to do the right thing. Nobody doubts he would be an asset but not worth putting the club at risk IMO

Any chance we could ask the Scouser for a season long loan

In case anyone hadn't noticed we also need a striker, they come at a premium too. Would love Sakho but out of our price range and better than we need.

Hasn't Steve parish already said the deal dead. I'm sure if the deal was affordable to us. We'd be all over but as pointed out we don't just need a cb . Our squad strength was a big problem last season and to justify 30m for a centre back is extreme.

I just can't see him leaving for anywhere at £30m, surely we have a chance with a £25m offer. That won't be all up front payment. Really if Schlupp (a squad player) is worth £12m then Sakho; top grade CB in his prime, is worth around double for us to pay.

Stoke are allegedly interested but only if Liverpool will drop their price to something more sensible but if that were to happen I guess that we would move back in - unless we have snapped up a bargain in the interim

I'm pretty confident if the price belows under 25M we're back in the race!
