According to Team Talk Football site we may be considering Van Persie as he is looking to return to the Premier League. Question is "do we need him"?

No we don't. His best days are passed, and besides, FdB wants a young(ish) team to build upon.

I actually think RVP would be a decent signing IF we can get him at a sensible price/wages and he's able to pass a more thorough fitness test than we have Remy. He was a great player in his day and turns 34 in August so could still have another year or 2 in him. Dafoe is still a good player at that age and his game is more about pace and he was never as good as RVP at both their peaks. He wouldn't play 90min every week but wouldn't have to do long as Benteke is fit. RVP would give us options and also have a better understanding what FDBs philosophy. He's a proven premiership striker and is worth considering IMO.

Yes in the past he was a very good player but we have gone down that route in the past, taking on big name players, looking for a last paycheck before retiring.

We have only one fit, ready to go, PL striker right now. If Benteke gets injured, wer'e stuffed. We need to access 2 strikers from somewhere. Van Persie has vast PL experience, and is a natural striker. Could he give 90 mins every week at his age? No way. Could,he be a useful impact sub? Probably. Is he worth a punt, at his price point? I think so.

Good points, if the money's right and he doesn't mind being second choice knowing he's going to be an impact player from the bench it could be worth it. Personally I'd rather the money goes towards a young up and coming player that we can nurture in to a long term success. Someone like Iheanacho... wages less, fee more but resale value should only go up with more experience. I guess I'm trying to say. I'm not sure we need an old man on the bench blocking youth from progressing.

RVP is someone we'd keep for a season or 2 and then let go. We need 2 strikers and it would be difficult and expensive them in one transfer window so I'd say there's room for them both. I think we need to judge RVP on his own merits and not let the Adebayor experience cloud our judgement - he hadn't played for a year and is an utter t***, same doesn't apply to RVP (unless he's a t*** too, dunno, but surely not in the same league as Adebayor).

Why do fenerbache want rid every window. The bloke looking for a last pay day. This is where the problem lies. We only need one striker as if we need have an injury crisis it would be for our younger striker to step up. Especially if we continue with a 1 striker formation.

My 2 possible strikers were Abraham and Defoe who have both been snapped up.
