For me, they all deserve to be locked away for good. All praise for the Hillsborough family campaigners and this latest example of justice after so many years of Establishment cover-up: Sir Norman faces four charges of misconduct in a public office relating to alleged lies he told in the aftermath about the culpability of fans Graham Mackrell, former Sheffield Wednesday Club Secretary, will be accused of breaching Health and Safety and Safety at Sports Ground legislation Peter Metcalf, who was a solicitor acting for SYP, is charged with perverting the course of Justice, relating to changes to witness statements Former Ch Supt Donald Denton is accused of perverting the course of justice Former Det Ch Insp Alan Foster is charged with perverting the course of justice

Haven't we spent enough tax payers money on this now? Those people who died can never be brought back and any amount of so called justice will change that. Putting these people in jail does not serve the public interest in my opinion, it would just be retribution on behalf of the families. Just putting it out there.

I think that in some cases that's probably true, however when you look at the charges against the Police officers, it implies malfeasance and corruption - relating to an attempt to cover up, and falsify evidence in doing so. We spent so much time and money getting to a point, where nearly three decades have elapsed, before even the truth came out.

ANyone purposely covering up/falsifying evidence should definately be charged and do time. This includes the people who purposely gave false information to the media to blame the Liverpool fans. THe rest falls under gross incompetence and bad planning. I mean, someone put Duckenfield in charge even though he had zero experience at such a big crowded game, and little or no training on how to do it. Its a damn witch hunt.

The fact that they can find evidence against Mackrell / Sheffield Wednesday and yet completely exonerate the FA who chose the ground without apparently doing any form of risk assessment, beggars belief.

The culpable have brought in on themselves through their lying, corruption and denigrating of the victims and their families. The crimes are just too serious for it to be forgotten. They could have just owned up and apologised at the time but chose a different and criminal course. They will, hopefully, get what they deserve.

Guys, I think we all need to be a bit careful what we say about this topic. No trial has taken place yet etc etc

The only way they could get to the truth was when all avenues of the justice system were exhausted.

But the first attempt at any defence will, I'm sure, be "inability to receive a fair trial", and that argument could well be helped by mass opinions of guilt posted on the internet. Just making the general legal point and urging caution, you understand. I'm not commenting on these particular characters or their guilt or innocence.

I agree with you wholeheartedly.... But the FA I'm sure would of done what they could to wriggle their way out of it.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

The FA weren't cleared, the CPS found there was not sufficient evidence for a chance of conviction on criminal charges. Similarly bringing charges against Sheffield Wednesday wasn't possible as the entity that exists now is not that which existed then. I'm fairly certain that had this been occurring then rather than now more people would be facing criminal charges.
