Do any HOLers live in or near West Kingsdown? Any views or information for someone considering moving there? Thanks.

I know the area very well having grown up over the hill in Kemsing. It depends on your circumstances with children / schooling etc. The transport links are poor (no station) and bus service irregular, so you could spend an awful lot of time ferrying your kids about. A friend of mine lives there and their son goes to secondary school in Maidstone. But others travel to Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Dartford and Wilmington. Edit - As for the travellers comment, yes there are a few settlements dotted about in the downs, and as with anywhere there are nice parts and not so nice parts - the same that can be said for Swanley, which is the nearest biggest town with a supermarket. Very close to Brands Hatch so noisy when racing is on. That's all I remember about the area.
