Whilst survival is key, for us to develop the ground and develop as a premier league side. Can we only survive in this league but playing counter attack football and low possession. We now 7th favourite to get relegated next season. I remember Parish mentioned about getting to what Everton are to relegated odds. With Everton, relegation isn't even in the question.

Has Pardew stint in charge, made you wary about changing the way we play.

I've always been wary of it because I always remember what it did to the clowns. To change style you must have the players in every position but that takes a long time with current player values.
We have stayed up so far by using the counter attack system which has worked because of the quality of our wingers. Until we have similar quality ALL OVER the pitch we can't be successful with a more expansive style.
What we do have to do is devise a better plan B to use against teams who come to Selhurst to defend and hit us on the counter.

For the foreseeable future we need to play to our strengths and make best use of the players we have. To play high-possession, passing football we'd need to massively improve our personnel, which we will do in time, IF we stay in the PL. Yes, we should have leaned from the Pardew experiment; evolution not revolution (Tony Hayers).

This , and this is what a good manager will do.

Pardew seemed to wake up one day and decide to change the playing style of a team that had won about twice since christmas because he had no idea what to do.
Even if the side were in form and had confidence it was never going to work as we did not have enough quality players.
The longer we stay in the Prem the better chance we have of attracting the quality of players to play the expansive football. Evolution as said above.
Me , I would be quite happy to finish top ten playing the style Pulis and Sam sensibly made us play, never found it boring.

Hostorically (from when I started watching around 88-89) some of our most entertaining and exciting teams and have a had exceptional wingbacks and wide men who attack quickly and get balls into the box. Hitting teams on the break sets the atmosphere on fire and I love it. No problem with us continuing like that if these are the strengths of our team.

Tight at the back, soak up pressure, creativity with a bit of steel in midfield, pace and trickery on the wings and a big CF to bang em in (think v Liverpool or Arsenal) and what's not to love?

Don't go changing!

I'd rather see us defend solidly and counter than play "you have it" for ages before hoofing a long ball forward.

...to give Pardew his due though, he got Wilf back on track whilst he was in charge. He looks so much more in control of himself. Focused & Dangerous. So happy he's signed up

Yrs play to your strengths but we could be far far stronger than we are in possession (or were under Pardew) with just a few additions and alterations. Being able to come back against a packed defence is something we don't know how to do.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Probably true although
Pardew failed spectacularly I guess he was trying to change things to be able to overcome the packed defence issue. Maybe a few changes in personnel and a more expansive thinking manager can achieve this with us. If not let us go with the Ginger One who will ensure we rake a step forward to Premiership stability.

Attack in numbers and defend in numbers. That's it. Simple.

But you need to have the players with the intelligence, speed, fitness and ability to do it. It's the footballing Holy Grail but every club should aspire to it.

We are half way there. Which is possibly as good as it will get with this squad.
