Was sent this and thought it was quite important. They have done the same thing with the police, sold off many public buildings to private companys to raise cash but once it's gone, it's gone. Attachment: NHS Assests0001.mp4 (4,073.24Kb)

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

If it moves the Tories will sell it. As usual, their 'friends' will pocket a very tidy sum. And as usual, the blinkered will still vote for them. T'is a funny old world

Nothing new ... it's been happening with public property or jobs for the past 40 years. Not much left to sell or to offload to private contractors these days. Navy to P&O Ferries and the Army to G4S perhaps?

I believe we (the taxpayer) still own the property but the operator has a monopoly to run it for a specified number of decades. The fabric of the building is usually maintained for the duration but the operator puts a specific cost (eg £1,000 to move a table) on everything else to recoup his initial outlay and presumably to make a profit.

I worked on a few PFI projects, they were funded initially by the private companies, and leased back over a 25 year phase I think, but yes, they were more expensive in the long run. Of course it also meant that if the projects collapsed or when tits up in the early phases of contracts, that the entire loss was born by the contracting party.

Remind us, was it these scurrilous Tories that sold off the country's gold reserves? It was New Labour, which is basically the same mentality as the conservatives. A movement in Labour that proved so popular that Corbyn has won two leadership elections. I understand where the Tories are coming from. Most of the services they privatised, weren't significant to their voters, other than the chance to make a buck off of them. The core Tory voters don't get the same value out of public services that traditional labour voters do. Its as short sited as New Labours f**king PFI's, good for the short term when you're in office and need to show an improvement, but f**king terrible for the long term when you actually have to fulfil social duty and obligations. Not everything can be 'run as a business' or have a simple fiscal value put on it.
