Sam Allardyce what the hell is the matter with you where are your morals? You signed a contract could you really not see this contract through?
You know how much Palace were depending on you, you know how much we needed your expertise to see us through the next season yet you decide you need to retire from football management for personal reasons do you know that none of us Palace fans believe a word of this.
Mr Parish gave you a major leg up after you were in the wilderness and this is how you pay him back, you are and were well aware of how Pulis behaved and left us two days before the start of the season and you basically go and do the same thing.
I hope you enjoy your supposed retirement I am really pissed of with you for leaving us scrambling for another manager just when we had a really good chance of making something of this wonderful club.
Take care Sam you might be big in stature but certainly not big responsibility..

I wouldn't be as harsh as the OP, but whatever the real reasons were, he could have given us a few weeks to see a transition through. I'm going to reserve any further judgment until I see what he's doing in January.

For five months he worked around the clock for us. He brought all his experience and expertise to bear, and he saved us from relegation. We owe him a debt of gratitude. At his age he was never a permanent solution . But unlike Pulis he had the decency to resign immediately after the season, to give us as much time as possible before the next campaign.

At his age, and with all the stress he's been through during the last couple of years, it's understandable if he's had enough. I don't think it's been said, but I wonder if there's a health reason that's at least a part of his decision . He's in his 60s, he worked like a dog to keep Sunderland up, then the England thing, then worked like a dog to keep us up. That sort of stress level can't possibly be sustainable for a man his age.

I suspect he will take most of next season off then step in to rescue a struggling club and trouser a nice 2 mill bonus again.
Why work all year when you can make the same or more in 3 months.

I'm not sure if you are criticising him or praising him, but you'd work 5 months a year for close on £3million, wouldn't you?

I seem to be alone in wondering whether that article in the Sun represented a great co-incidence otherwise why didn't Sam make reference to a personal tragedy in his resignation statement
