With Big Sam departure , I personally think it's important that we go for a manager with a similar style to Sam or Pulis. Defend deep and use the counter attack successfully. Have we really got the players for a Mancini or ranieri. As great as it is to see a possession game at Palace. A lot of our players like to defend deep and use the counter. I'd be concerned if a new manager come in and said basically what pardew said last summer. At the end of the day a manager only as good as the players that take the field. What your thought on this when choosing the next Manager?

Ranieri was not a possession type football manager. They won the league with the lowest possession ever I believe. I think he would be a good fit with counterattacking football. I'm just concerned with him killing the dressing room and how they suddenly became so good again when he left and Shakespeare took the reigns

My concern with ranieri is that you get a peak of results until xmas then the players find out he's a fool and down tools.

Counter, but need to break down bottom half at home. That's it really. Silva has a brilliant home record and hull had an appalling away record. The players know how to counter away.

Totally agree. With the players we have (at the moment) we will score. If we get a manger who knows how to defend, we’ll be fine.

Freedman, Pulis and Allardyce have been a success. All put defense first and kept us as a counter attacking team. The focus on fitness was also a huge factor. Holloway failed and Pardew failed once he started to think we were a possession team. We need someone who likes to keep it tight at the back and maintains the fitness levels, it'd be nice to have a bit more possession but it shouldn't be a priority when hiring.

I don't see why this counter attacking style needs to be the case, particularly if we sign Sakho. With some of the players we've brought in (Sakho, Milivojevic, Mandanda if he stays, Cabaye), they're all players who are comfortable on the ball and happy to play it out rather than knock it long and quickly hoping someone gets on the end of it. When Sakho and Cabaye are out we clearly miss them because we lack the outlet of being able to play it out, and instead just constantly hoof it and get nowhere.
