If we copied the German healthcare model that would be great but with The Tories, being what they innately are - profit driven and thoughtless, we won't but will ape the more iniquitous American version.

Italy has a mixed public-private healthcare system that seems to work very well. We really need to consider new approaches to our NHS. We can't keep harping back to 1948, times change.
We have now sunk to a depth at which the restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men. [Orwell] |

I certainly hope not. Shame they don't put a tax on sugary and very fattening food to help ease the stress on the NHS aswell, like they do with fags and alcohol (and rightly so).

Sugary food like fruit? Food is only fattening of you eat too much of it. Look at the calories in nuts. You wouldn't want to ban them though. It's not workable. Not from a health perspective. People need to eat less. Pretty much that simple.
