This bodes well for us. I imagine this will mean players start informing the ref they dived when they receive decisions in their favour.

Ridiculous as a player who has not dived is often nevertheless booked for diving.

Sam's comments are right though - if you're only going to review incidents that result in a player winning a penalty or lead to an opponent being sent off, then those that are booked for simulation but were fouled and didn't get a pen are still penalised. And let's not forget, if a pen was given & scored, or a sending off led to a win for the 11 players, those points and goals still stand, so any bans would have to be long enough to make the players think twice.

Good news for the sport and long overdue I'd say it's bad news; Zaha will get a red for being hacked down on the occasions where the ref failed to give him a yellow, for supposed simulation, when he's clobbered. I anticipate we won't see him for more than half a dozen games next season.

I suppose not ideal but it will work both ways, yellow/red cards can be cleared on appeal but of course goals won't be. I think it's better to have something in place than nothing – seems to work to a good enough level in the scottish leagues (since 2011 apparently).
Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons. |

I agree with Big Sam. This is being done so that Sweet Fanny can say they are "doing something." Instead of doing something that is the easiest for them, why not do it right? No, not Sweet Fanny! The proper word for this is rubbish.

They're clearly not going to suspend players who are touched but they don't think it was heavy enough. This is to stop the Snodgrass kind of dive, where they weren't touched and go down like they were hacked to pieces. I remember when Pulis was in charge and Thomas and Ince did this. He was furious with them. I welcome it!

A problem I have is its not going to be equal at all matches. Even in the PL, live matches have more cameras than others. As managers, players & fans love a moan there are bound to be situations where you can't tell but if there had been another camera somewhere else as in a live match you would of been able to tell better. What will be interesting is, when a penalty was given but a dive took place but it started outside the penalty so a penalty shouldn't of been given on that reason so shouldn't be reviewed. Will the player still get banned? I presume the player will as that is the decision the ref gave at the time to give a penalty.
The pyramid to beat all pyramids!! Find out what team is in which division, eg which division is Coppull United in? |

Big Sam has hit the nail on the head. I was not his biggest fan but his straight talking on this point is perfect.
