Baring in mind that we need to replace up to 12 players this summer, 5 are out of contract (inc Sakho and Remy) and that we won't have more than £60m net to spend, can we really afford to sign Sakho? Here's my take on it.

Losing remy and flamini- both big earners certainly takes some wages off the bill. However do we really need 10 or 12 players. In an ideal world we love to get rid of the deadwood. Players like chungy and mutch are under contract. Mandanda will leave also on big wages. We need a replacement for him. Gk- Hennessy- speroni- (new gk ). <3> Defenders- ward, dann,Delaney,Tomkins, schlupp, PVA , Kelly - (new def). <8> Midfielders - puncheon, Cabaye, mcarthur, Townsend, Zaha , sako, chungy , mutch , luka <9> Forwards- Benteke, wickham, new striker & keep Campbell <4> That a squad of 24 - granted that involves Campbell, chungy, mutch but who gonna fill that fringe player void. If we keep Ledley and replace mutch. Out contract players keep:- Campbell, Kelly,Delaney, speroni and Ledley. I personally think we need a maximum of 6 players. I will be surprised if we keep Sakho. Mind you I'll be surprised if we keep Benteke. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised this summer.

Here's my take on it. Fellow Holer,Ian Holloway has left so we will NOT be signing up to 12 players.

The aim must be to sign "foundation players" who will do the business for us for some time, plus developing players whether bought in or home grown (who can become foundation players) or be sold on at a profit. We do have an ability to sell players. Those sales need to be balanced by there being people waiting for their opportunity in the first team squad. COYP

no we can't afford to buy him, but that doesn't mean we won't. Despite all the TV money Palace reported a loss in 2015/16 of £5m due to spending on Cabeye and Wickham etc and this season we've spent heavily on Benteke etc. I doubt we can afford £30 m for a 27 year old on massive wages but this is football so who knows

The outlay would be worth it and I believe that Steve Parish truly believes in Big Sam and that now is the time to take the next step.

It was designed to make it a level playing field so a small club like Chelsea was couldn't get a billionaire come in and buy the Premier League. Live within your means, so to speak. Failure to do that involves the £50m fine Man City were given or transfer embargoes or points deduction that QPR were to be given had they got promoted last season. In essence a team like QPR are screwed. Tony Fernandes can be as rich as he likes, he can't buy Messi because their gate receipts can't sustain it. I believe it is taken from a 5 year average so we could spend £200m now and nothing for 5 years and be okay, for example. Financial Fair Play is a Uefa rule and also a Premier League rule.
