His performances since January have been superb. With questions mark about puncheon regular starting spot. Is he a candidate for captain for next season. As much as I like dann as a player he's captaincy was pretty poor imo ? Any chance of Tomkins making an England squad?

Andy Johnson Magic, He wears a Magic Hat
When he Sees the match ball, he says he having that
He scores one with left foot, he scores one with his right
And When his playing Brighton, He scores all f***ING Night!

I didn't rate him initially but he's proved me wrong and looked a lot better since Sakho and Milivojevic have come in. A decent centre-back but not England quality. Not seen enough from him to indicate that he's captain material after Puncheon.

Not England quality? An awesome player then.

Gutsy too. Played on at Anfield after that shocking tackle and clearly must have worked very hard to get back for today.

Apparently Wilf is not England quality.

F*** England.

Wet Sham fans were gutted when he left and we're beginning to see why they rated him so highly.

As for the Cpt's armband, I think that'll be Punch's to keep.

Cynic or realist? It's a fine line!

He has proven to be a bit of a bargain really. Was a bit surprised we paid so much when he signed, but he has proven to be a really good player. West Ham fans were right to be annoyed after they paid a similar amount for a 33 year old Jose Fonte 6 months later.

Punch will be club captain. I think the modern day captain thing of having to be picked isn't quite how it used to be.

I thought he had a great game on Sunday, strong in the air and good with ball at his feet and on top of that coming into the game carrying an injury, both him and Martin Kelly have stepped up when really needed during the run in, injuries to Tomkins have meant a stop start first season for him but i reckon he has been a top signing and hopefully he has a good pre season and can have a run of injury free games next season ...

Actual defending drills and training rather than going to the manager asking for some on Thursday, only to have to do it themselves on Friday. Truly facking shocking and the man responsible should hang his head in shame. All to justify the contract extension, which was beyond unbelievable.

Even though this is only coming from the Daily Fail Sheffield Wednesday fans are in meltdown at the very idea.

And as if that wasn't bad enough they have a history of trying to sign Bumfluff.

Oh dear.

Tomkins doesn't have the leadership qualities to be captain and I think it would take away from his performance if he had to focus on that side of the game and defending. Sakho was the more vocal natural leader of the two but to be honest I think Puncheon is the best choice he can still captain the side without it hugely affecting his game and he is already a vocal natural leader.
