I just read this on a Sunderland fans' forum:

"Back in 1962 we went to Swansea needing a win to gain promotion but only drew. It would be fitting payback if we beat them next week [i.e. tomorrow - Ed] and keep the relegation pot boiling for them"

Blimey!

Any suggestions for the oldest unsettled Palace grudge?

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Next season we owe Seaweed a spanking twice just for being founded in the first place.

Impressive. Just shy of 116 years.

Would send them down, not keep the pot boiling. Got everything crossed for this result.

Wouldn't send them down as they are above Hull

My only unsettled Palace grudge is against Charlton - no need to explain why.

But, having said that, I suppose that in fact the grudge has been settled, in that they now barely exist. Richly deserved outcome.

Man United for both FA Cup finals. Really hoped we'd get our own back for 1990 last year but wasn't to be.

I have never forgiven Newport County for pipping us to promotion from the Third Division South in 1938-39. Gutted that they managed to stay in the league this season.

Not condoning violence, but Clive Allen still needs a smack in the mouth for the FA Cup 1/4 final in 1982
