Why suddenly this season are there so many live Sky games on a Thursday? Spurs are away to Leicester on 18th May, just three days before the final Sunday Premier fixtures. I'm surprised that there has not been more of an uproar about this!! I think it is pretty disgusting. I'm still confident that Spurs would beat Hull on the last day anyway, and that we will be safe before then. But i think it is shocking that they are playing so near to the final Sunday of fixtures

Don't complain too hard as Man U are in the same boat.... we'll be their 4th game in 10 days by the 21st and then they might have a final to play after that.

It’s about time the Premier League did what happens in the German Bundesliga where for the last two fixtures all teams play at the same time a week apart. This season the Premier League has fixtures on the 12th, 13th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th 18th and then 21st. It’s plain stupid and can give unfair advantages/disadvantages all over the shop.

The clubs took the TV money. Yes, but couldn’t they make an exception for the last two games of the season? I know, silly question.

Do other countries have two major domestic trophies in addition to the league? Part of the fixture congestion is the large number of teams from the Premiership that end up in European competitions; many of whom progress deeply. But having two cups also can't help. The other major leagues have 20 teams (the Bundesliga has 18) yet they have time for a winter break. A sensible suggestion might be to exclude the Premier League from the League Cup, but the clubs are so money-hungry that they'd never go for it. They'd much rather flog to death their players legs' and their fans' wallets with endless fixtures. Even if we could squeeze in a winter break, you know the clubs would all go off on a winter tour! The bigger teams with their deeper squads are better equipped to handle the congestion. The problem comes when teams like Palace get caught up in it and have to play 7 games in a month, including 3 games in 7 days, without the bench strength to rotate players let alone cover for injuries. We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |

I agree , actually think it should be done for more than the last two. I am sure sky could still come to some agreement to show one or two of the games but them all ko at the same time

I think quite a few are playing catch up after Champions League and Europa football as well as domestic cup runs.

Taking Premier teams out of the League Cup is the answer in my opinion. It is not worth playing in. I would also revert a lot of European matches to single leg, but the TV networks would never agree to it.

To be fair premier league teams and even some Championship one have taken themselves out of the league cup. Its not until the semis that anyone even thinks about putting a first eleven out . Lower league clubs would be the only ones to suffer as even playing Palace reserves at home could be the biggest game of the season for some Anyway Spurs playing on a Thursday ? All I can say is, they are used to it .
