I think clubs which won't sign players because they have AFCON or won't let them go need their heads examined. Yes, it was a pain in the arse not having Wilf available and for us it was also a bit of a surprise because he committed to Ivory Coast a couple of weeks before getting on the plane. But in general clubs know fine well what players' AFCON commitments are likely to be and have squads of 25 players so ought to be able to deal with them. It's not as if the players will be playing all 38 PL matches in the season anyway. It looks to me as though Wilf came back from the last AFCON a better player, more confident and fitter. Their loss.

If there's a limit to where you can finish in the table, i.e - 9th I'd agree. But if you're going for a title you'd go for someone else unless he was proven to be consistently better against top quality.

Suspect issue is really about the price, mentions also how much they might pay for Barkeley amd how much they might get for Thug.

Loadabollox. No decent player would sign for anyone ever if it were the case because there is more than one way they could miss six weeks of a season every two years.

Levy won't wanna pay up for Wilf - nor will he match what we're ready to pay him in wages. If Yala was £27 million then Zaha is £35 million minimum if you ask me. In fact maybe more as he's getting better. We have very little chance of buying anyone as good so we should refuse to sell and if he leaves on a free when his contract is up so be it.
