On the BBC Football Gossip site (Don't have a subscription for the Times so can't read the details) `Crystal Palace are being considered for a potential takeover by Desports, a Chinese marketing company that already own La Liga side Granada. But Eagles chairman Steve Parish, who owns 18% of the club, does not want to sell. (Times - subscription required)`

According to the media the Chinese have approached the American investors to see if they want to sell their shares and state that Parish doesn't want to sell his. Who knows how much truth there is in the story

Perhaps there could become part of the consortium with a lower stake in the club that would be great

Granada used to be owned by Mr Pozzo (Cannot remember his christian name) who also owned Watford, hence there were a number of Granada players transferred to Watford ie Success,Paredes,Layun,Pudil,Belkalem, Anya etc.I believe that Pozzo sold Granada to a Chinese businessman last year.Pozzo's son now owns Watford.

"Crystal Palace are being considered for a potential takeover by Double-Edged Sports (Desports), a Chinese marketing company that is looking to acquire another football club after purchasing Granada, the La Liga side, last year. Desports has yet to make a formal bid, but intermediaries acting on behalf of Jiang Lizhang have approached David Blitzer and Josh Harris, the Palace directors, about buying their 36 per cent share of the club. Lizhang knows Blitzer and Harris through his involvement with the NBA — Desports has a stake in the Minnesota Timberwolves, while the Americans own the Philadelphia 76ers — but it is unclear whether they are looking to sell, having completed their investment at Selhurst Park in only December 2015. Steve Parish, the Palace chairman, also owns 18 per cent of the club and has made it clear that he does not want to sell. Shanghai-based Desports has become an increasingly active investor in recent years after a decade spent acquiring broadcast rights to international events to stream on its website. In addition to buying into Granada, which recently appointed Tony Adams as manager, and the Timberwolves last year, Desports has held takeover talks with OH Leuven, a Belgian second-division club, and earlier this year secured the rights to show the Champions League and Europa League in China from 2018 to 2021."
Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five! |

Would it be a good or bad thing? Do we want the prospect of more money coming into the club, thereby possibly enhancing the chance of our becoming an established Premiership club, or do we want to continue be controlled by a group of Palace fans, who love the club for what it is rather than for the chance of making money? I know which I want. But perhaps I'm being sadly romantic and unrealistic in the modern world of football.

After only skipping through recent articles in the press, I haven't been overly impressed with what I have read about Granada. At the moment they seem to be a joke team facing relegation and changing manager recently to Tony Adams.

My understanding is that Tony Adams is only filling-in and they are looking to bring someone else in.
