I think the potential of this team is staggering. To win that many consecutive games against top teams, especially away at Chelsea and now Liverpool, shows what many of us already knew earlier in the season, that this was a Top 10 team that was under-achieving badly. We know have a top quality manager, plus a quality coaching team under him. With a full pre-season and some more quality additions in the summer, i think this squad can go a long way

I'm no longer writing off the Spurs, City or Utd games and we can catch both Stoke and Watford given how badly they are playing.

My feelings are we can go a long way with this set of players plus more quality in the window. Personally I think this turn-around is down to the new coaching staff, especially Sammy Lee. For me next season looks very exciting indeed, but we all must remember this is Palace so anything can happen. Just as long as that idiot Pardew doesn't return we will be fine.

I did think and say a while back we could either just survive or go on a good run and pull completely clear and I wouldn't be surprised at either. I know that's covering more possibilities than just one but you see my point. There were good players in the team and when you have built the foundation of conceding none or only 1 goal then it keeps you in games and gives you the platform to pick up points regularly. It's only the Leicester game, which we drew, since Southampton we've conceded 2, and actually counting games we've conceded 2 or more there aren't very many. Spurs and Chelsea do that. Liverpool can't, and I'm sure Sam knows it and told the players.

The only concern is Sakho. The rest we either have under contract and will get good money for to replace with decent signings Sam makes, and there's possibly a few we extend contracts. But if Sam can bring a quality CB for less than Sakho and get top quality performances out of him like he has with Tomkins and Kelly then we'll be okay. Zaha again is a concern but he's worth so much money Sam must surely be able to find a decent replacement. I reckon he always has options up his sleeve for future windows whereas Pardew had a look down prem squads and the back pages of the mirror whilst texting his mistresses.

I can see Sakho and Zaha not being here next season, along with Cabaye who wants to return to France, which is a shame as he has played to his potential since Sam arrived.

It is a big call but this is possibly the best Palace team i have ever seen. No weak links and they can all play.

When you look at the squad it shouldn't really be any lower than 12th. We finished 11th then 10th in our first 2 seasons back in the PL with squads that were weaker in relative terms to other teams. Last season we had squad depth issues and I guess this season pre-January we had issues with the balance of the side. But the team we have now is easily better than all teams below us (bar West Hams), better than Watford's and comparable with Stoke's, Southampton's and West Brom's. Our fixture list is still tough but Watford's is also, Stoke and West Brom have taken their foot off the gas a little. We should keep looking up the table.

Still a way to go quality wise in some positions and if you look at the squad it's getting a bit silly now with bang average overpaid players being in the same 25 group as some very good players. But injuries and suspension free our main 15/16 playuers (including Sakho) is definitely/should be a top 10 team next season. It's the other 9 or 10 that are the problem. We need better to achieve a better win/loss ratio over the season. And the day we win more than we lose is when we come 7th or 8th or, cheekily, pushing for sixth but that is a huge leap.

'79 and '91 lot still have the edge for me as they were winning throughout the season and not many losses at all and were more than effective in all areas in that time. Not saying this lot wouldn't beat them as times are different but purely as a team.

I agree it's a concern but, after the moves made in January, I'm now more confident that Sam will be able to replace them next season if any of them do depart.
Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time. |
