That'll secure votes from meatheads.

Clearly,he thinks playing the "Enoch" card is the only route to get votes for UKIP now...still at least now no one will be in any doubt about where all ongoing UKIP supporters are "coming from"...

It does appear that the Burka is banned throughout Europe, surprisingly in certain buildings in Barcelona, which is a place as liberal as it gets:

Good that someone is starting the debate however there will not be a proper debate. If you are pro, you are a racist, against, you are a woolly liberal and if you wish to make your mind up, and do t have a fixed position on the matter, then you will be none the wiser because facts and valid opinions will be denied.

I disagree. I have voted UKIP and do not have an opinion on the burka. I see both sides on this, particularly defending the British tradition of freedom and a ban on clothing would be anti that.

Don't be so prejudiced against people whom you oppose. It's not all black and white,

I was referring to voting UKIP from now on.

If you believe in traditional British values of tolerance and freedom, then no doubt you will not be voting for them from now on..in which case, fair enough.

Do you agree with every policy the party you vote for promotes?

I believe is respect but respect is a two way street.

Singling out groups for scapegoating is also a traditional British Value. Once it was single mothers , it's been blacks, gays, Irish, Muslims.

I have never voted for a party with a policy I abhor.

So you can wear a head scarf but not a Muslim religious one? You can wear a veil, but not a Muslim religious veil. What about hoodies, scarfs etc these are also commonly used by criminals to obscure their face.

What about other 'obscuring' styles of dress. I mean baggy cargo pants can conceal a knife or firearm as can a long jacket etc.

Whilst I know all manner of rhetoric will be produced to defend this as a 'security issue' that's bollocks its tubthumping religious nonsense.

What makes me laugh is EDL types with faces covered arguing about the burka.

Great thread.
The left defending the oppression of women in an attempt to score political points. Lovely.

The burka is an affront to any modern society, end of story.

And please don't tell me that some women want to wear it.
Women wanted to wear corsets that pushed their livers through their rib cage in Victorian times.
Freedom? I don't think so.
